We’ll introduce five trick questions that even children can understand.
The questions are about things like calendars and new products.
By using familiar topics, elementary school students will feel more connected and be more eager to take part in the quiz.
Encourage the kids to aim for the right answers with their flexible minds.
If it starts to feel difficult, prepare hints so everyone can enjoy it together.
These quizzes are recommended for upper elementary school students.
Try taking turns asking the questions with teachers and friends and have fun!

Elementary school kids have flexible minds and genuinely enjoy quizzes, right? Sometimes, when a slightly tricky or trick question comes up, they get super excited and shout out the answer to teach everyone.
These quizzes have simple prompts—let’s try to find the answers.
If you think carefully, the answer might come to you intuitively in a flash.
If you can’t figure it out, asking for a simple hint is also recommended.

♪ Original song – Yuko, mother of two – Yuko, mother of two
Let’s answer without being tricked by the bait! Here are some ideas for sneaky riddles.
With sneaky riddles, there’s often a trap hidden in the wording of the question.
Listen carefully to the question and think it through to figure out the answer! For example, a question might be: “No matter how level it is, what is higher on the right and lower on the left?” Once you know the correct answer, it’s the kind of riddle that makes you go, “I see!” or “So that’s how it is!”

Silent Audio Source – Nashiko (Kaonashiko)
I really enjoy quiz shows and often watch them on TV.
How about you? I’m always impressed by the knowledge and quick thinking of Ujihara from Rozan and Takuji Izawa.
But the one I think is the most amazing is Kazlaser.
He’s so funny and yet so quick-witted… I wonder if a comedian’s brain and quiz skills are connected somehow.
If it’s Kazu, he could probably breeze through even slightly tricky trick questions.
The classic trick question for elementary school kids, both then and now, is probably: “What kind of pan can’t you eat, even though it’s called ‘pan’?” Everyone, try quizzing each other with your best trick questions and enjoy your lunch break!
A quiz that 99% of people get caught by

It’s hard to arrive at the answer! Here are some ideas for quizzes that trick 99% of people.
These are riddles that most people get caught by, and to find the answer, it’s important to approach them with flexible thinking.
Try looking at them from different angles with your friends and family.
For example, there’s a question like: “You picked up a wallet someone dropped.
What should you do with the wallet you picked up?” Try thinking with an open mind!

Witty riddles

The word tonchi, which we usually use to mean clever wit or a witty retort, is said by one theory to come from the onomatopoeic sound tonchinkan, the clang made when a swordsmith hammers a blade.
But there are various theories, and nothing is certain.
“Tonchi” is a curious word, isn’t it? Riddles that play on tonchi are a fun way to pass the time, too.
For example, here’s a question: “What do you buy in order to keep?” The hint is that the question is written in hiragana.
The answer is a pet—because in Japanese it’s ‘kau tame ni kau’ (buy in order to keep/raise).
The trick to getting the right answer is to look at words from different angles!
Ultra-difficult trick quiz

Are you bad at trick questions? I couldn’t even get the classic one—“Which is heavier, 1 kg of iron or 1 kg of cotton?”—I just kept groaning and never reached the right answer.
I’m the type who overthinks and self-destructs, assuming there must be some hidden twist just because it’s presented as a question.
I can’t handle normal trick questions, so if they’re labeled “super hard,” then… As for those tougher trick questions, the rising YouTuber Chonmage Kozou—who suddenly appeared with the greeting “Hikiniku desu!”—is enjoying them too.
Elementary schoolers who don’t have much time, give them a try!
