Magic that changes the shape of a hole in a newspaper

What do you think happens if you round off the corner of a newspaper that’s been folded into quarters and then unfold it? Normally, you’d expect the center to be rounded, right? But in this magic trick, it’s not a circle—it’s cut out as a square! The secret is in how the newspaper is prepared.
In fact, two sheets are glued together along the edges, and the second sheet has a square pre-cut in it.
When you cut the first sheet, you fold it cleverly so the second sheet doesn’t get cut.
With a little preparation, it’s easy to perform—give it a try!
How to make playing cards disappear

Card magic is a classic, so it’s handy to learn at least one trick.
Here, we introduce a basic trick where you make a playing card disappear.
The secret is simple: when you grip the card, pinch it with your index finger and pinky.
Then use your middle and ring fingers to flip the card over and hide it on the back of your hand.
To your audience, it looks like the card vanishes in an instant.
You can do this with anything made of non-rigid paper, like business cards or clinic cards, so give it a try as a quick party trick.
99-times-table calculation magic

In elementary school, we memorize the multiplication table (the times table) like a chant.
The usual table goes up to 9, but in this trick we take on the 99-times table! Without long multiplication or mental math, you’ll produce the answer instantly.
The secret is that the result for multiplying by 99 can be formed by taking the answer for multiplying by 9, splitting it into the hundreds and ones places, and simply putting a 9 in the tens place.
For example, 99×2 is 198, and 99×3 is 297.
If you first write the hundreds and ones digits and then quickly fill in the tens digit with a 9, most people will think, “You only wrote a 9—there’s no way that’s correct.” Show them it matches perfectly and give them a surprise!
Even elementary schoolers can do it! Guess the trump card numbers

This is a playing card magic trick where you guess the card someone has chosen.
In this trick, the spectator returns their chosen card to any spot they like, and you pretend not to know where it is—but in fact, from the moment it’s returned, the performer already knows its location.
The key to making this trick work is the bottom card of the deck.
While squaring the deck and demonstrating that the cards are well shuffled, make sure to firmly remember what that bottom card is.
Then, at the moment the chosen card is returned to the deck, place the key card directly on top of it.
By doing this, you’re able to keep track of the position of the chosen card!
Elevator Boy Magic

A mysterious magic trick where a card you supposedly insert in the middle rises to the top like an elevator at the cue “Going up!” All you need are four red cards and the black 2 through 5.
Keep the black cards in numerical order.
When you separate the cards by color, secretly move one red card over to the black side—this is the key to making the trick work.
Since the black cards are in order, even if you turn them face down, spectators will still assume they remain in order.
With that preconception in place, as you insert cards one by one into the red packet, the secretly added red card causes the black sequence to shift, making the card that should have been in the middle rise to the top like an elevator.
It takes a bit of technique, so practice and earn your place as a crowd favorite!
Magic using a rubber band: revealing the secret of the restoration trick

A mysterious magic trick where a snapped rubber band miraculously comes back to life.
Tricks that restore objects seem difficult, but even elementary school kids can do this one with a little practice! Hold a single rubber band in its normal looped state, then use your hand or teeth to “cut” it.
But right away, the rubber band that should have been torn returns to its original shape! The key to this trick is how you hold the rubber band before the cut.
You hold it so the circumference of the band is doubled, and when you “cut,” you only perform the cutting motion—you don’t actually cut it.
When the band’s circumference is doubled and held taut, it looks like a single rubber band.
If you practice your hand movements properly, it’s easy to pull off!
A banknote that should have been cut but isn’t

You thrust a knife into a banknote sandwiched in paper, yet when you pull it out, the bill is pristine with no hole! It’s an astonishing magic trick, but the method is simple.
First, prepare a sheet of paper folded in half.
Fold the banknote in half the same way, align the creases, and place the bill between the paper.
Holding it with the crease on top, insert the knife from below, but shift the bill to one side so that you only pierce the paper.
Be mindful of your finger movements while performing so it doesn’t give away that you moved the bill to one side.
