Hit and popular songs by SHISHAMO (Shishamo)

Let me introduce a song by SHISHAMO, a three-piece girls’ band from Kanagawa Prefecture.

Their debut came about when a record label representative happened to overhear the advisor of their high school light music club talking at his regular tonkatsu restaurant, saying, “There’s a great band.”

Apparently, the restaurant was even selling their CDs.

Their appeal lies in the down-to-earth lyrics written by the vocalist, Ms.

Miyazaki, and their performance skills that contrast with their cute visuals.

Now, please enjoy a song by SHISHAMO, a staple of the next generation of girls’ rock bands.

This is a message song that brings hope to listeners’ hearts.

Created through a collaboration between SHISHAMO and Erika Ikuta, it will be released in March 2025.

Chosen as the theme for Asahi Soft Drinks’ “Mitsuya Cider” commercial, it drew significant attention.

The original version was included on the February 2017 album “SHISHAMO 4.” With its powerful guitar sound and catchy melody, the song’s lyrics offer encouragement to people doing their best every day.

Give it a listen when you’re dealing with worries at work or school.

bandageSHISHAMO

It’s a song about a boy experiencing heartbreak.

He mustered up the courage to confess behind the gym, but it turns out the girl already had a boyfriend.

He goes home, takes out a bandage, wanting to ease the pain, but there’s nothing he can do because it’s his heart that hurts.

It’s a bittersweet song that conveys the longing to somehow ease an unbearable pain.

SHISHAMO’s classic and popular songs (31–40)

The music room is a secret base.SHISHAMO

It’s a song with the kind of storytelling that’s typical of SHISHAMO.

It depicts the everyday life of a transfer student and the teacher who noticed them and reached out.

The day arrives before the teacher can tell the transfer student that they’re moving to a different school, but thanks to the teacher, the transfer student has come to enjoy school and can carry on cheerfully even without them—that’s the gist of the lyrics.

It conveys the message that the people who brought light into your life during your school days stay in your heart forever.

Hey,SHISHAMO

SHISHAMO is a three-piece band leading the girls’ rock scene with a solid, hard-hitting sound layered with relatable, true-to-life lyrics.

“Nee,” the opening track of their fifth album, SHISHAMO 5, was featured in a commercial for Calpis “Calpis Water,” and later served as the theme song for ABEMA’s “Kyo, Suki ni Narimashita” in 2021.

The lyrics tell a story of bittersweet love and the resolve to take a step forward—perfect for spring, the season of new beginnings.

With a tight, guitar-driven pop ensemble that lingers in your ears, it’s a refreshing pop tune.

That Girl’s BalladSHISHAMO

The protagonist is the kid from “Homework’s Not Done.” That girl is the cutest one in the school from “Why I Confessed to You.” The two of them are best friends.

The boy who appears in this song is the protagonist of “I Don’t Want to Go.” The kid from “Homework’s Not Done” likes the kid from “I Don’t Want to Go,” but she thinks he likes the cutest girl.

It’s such a heartrending song.

ConfectionerySHISHAMO

It’s a song about a girl who makes sweets for someone she likes.

It seems she knows that the other person likes her too.

It’s the kind of song you’ll want to listen to while making treats, like on Valentine’s Day.

There’s also choreography you can do at live shows, so if you learn it beforehand, it’ll definitely get the crowd going.

This is a song that enjoys overwhelming popularity among fans.

The guitar riff is downright cool, and the lyrics are heartbreakingly poignant.

It portrays someone insisting that they’re not pining after “you,” but merely sympathizing with the girl protagonist of a manga, a show of bravado that grips every listener’s heart.

Miyazaki’s emotionally charged vocal delivery is another deeply moving highlight.
