Love will winKAN

A song I recommend to anyone who’s lost confidence.

I don’t think the “love” in this song refers only to romantic love.

Love is essential for living—not just toward others, but toward yourself as well.

First, love yourself.

Be on your own side.

Even if there’s no one in the world who stands with you, if you can do that, you’ll surely be able to move forward.

It’s a timeless classic that will continue to be sung and listened to.

Voice of the Seaurashima tarō (kiritani kenta)

"The Voice of the Sea" Full ver. / Urashima Taro (Kenta Kiritani) [Official]
Voice of the Seaurashima tarō (kiritani kenta)

This song, “Umi no Koe,” is well known from the au Santaro series as Urashima Taro’s theme.

While the series’ commercials are usually comedic, the ones featuring this song take a strikingly different turn—calm and reflective.

Sung by Kenta Kiritani under the name Urashima Taro, it was released digitally in 2015 as a love song expressing Urashima Taro’s feelings for Otohime.

The sound of the sanshin evokes Okinawan folk music and the Okinawan sea, stirring something deep in the heart.

The song was composed by BEGIN’s Shimabukuro, and there’s also a self-cover version performed by BEGIN.

A hidden gem by Porno Graffitti that truly lives up to its title.

It’s a song that makes you want to slowly move forward, finding a way to accept yourself even on days when nothing goes right.

What is happiness? Perhaps you could take a moment to think about it too.

Gather the Windhappii endo

This song was made in the 1970s, but even today it doesn’t feel dated at all.

The lead vocal is by Haruomi Hosono.

The lyrics, consisting only of scenic descriptions, and the relaxed mood have a powerful healing effect on the heart.

It’s included on the 1971 album “Kazemachi Roman.” Many artists have recorded cover versions.

Thanks.DREAMS COME TRUE

DREAMS COME TRUE – Thank You. (from DWL 2011 Live Ver.)
Thanks.DREAMS COME TRUE

Lyrics that capture a slice of everyday life reach deep into the heart.

The protagonist, who took the initiative to say “goodbye” to him, and the friend who came along to set off fireworks in a winter park without asking anything about it.

The line the friend says to the protagonist—who pretends to cough on the smoke to hide their tears—is wonderful.

It’s a friendship song that hits you in the chest, where you can understand each other without putting it into words.

Always With MeKimura Yumi

Always, No Matter How Many Times / Yumi Kimura
Always With MeKimura Yumi

Famous as the theme song of Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away, this piece was released in 2000 as the debut single by Osaka-born composer and singer Yumi Kimura.

Performed as a self-accompanied song on the lyre, the solemn, beautiful timbre of the instrument and Kimura’s clear, translucent voice work in synergy to create a track that feels like it washes your heart clean in an instant.

It’s a number that seeps into a weary heart and brings back something you may have forgotten.

A song to spend time with when you’re feeling worn out.

365 Days Paper AirplaneAKB48

Released in 2017 and used as the theme song for the NHK morning drama series “Asa ga Kita,” this song likens life— which never goes exactly as we wish— to a paper airplane riding the wind.

What matters is not how far it can fly, but how it flies until it lands.

This message shifts our perspective from results to the importance of the process, and helps put our minds at ease.
