A person who loves springGLAY

If you’re looking for a hidden GLAY gem to get you through the cold winter and listen to in spring, it has to be “Haru o Ai suru Hito” (“One Who Loves Spring”).

It’s a track from their 1996 hit album BELOVED and is highly regarded among fans and music industry folks.

TAKURO wrote it after a trip to Iceland, where he was moved by people enduring harsh winters while eagerly awaiting spring.

It opens with vocals and piano, and when the guitar riff kicks in, the buoyant rush is irresistible.

Taken as a whole, the song evokes all four seasons, with everything ultimately flowing toward spring.

“Ashita wa Kitto Ii Hi ni Naru” (Tomorrow Will Surely Be a Good Day) is singer-songwriter Yu Takahashi’s 12th single, released in 2015.

That same September, a cover version by singer-songwriter Rihwa was also featured, and both were used as commercial songs for Daihatsu’s “Cast.” It’s a breezy, springlike, up-tempo pop tune, and its upbeat lyrics can blow away a so-so day and lift your spirits.

Takahashi himself directed the music video, which also features Junior Chihara, Bakarhythm, and Hitori Gekidan, so be sure to check it out!

It’s a very upbeat, pop song that makes you feel like you can move forward steadily, step by step.

It was released in 2011 as miwa’s fifth single.

As part of a mobile carrier’s project, messages were collected from students preparing for exams and from new members of the workforce, and miwa wrote lyrics based on what she felt after reading them.

The slight change in the melody during the chorus is really cool.

Let’s give it a tryWANIMA

When it comes to feel-good songs, you can’t forget WANIMA! Among their many uplifting tracks that have energized so many people, the perfect spring pick is “Yatte Minai?” (“Try It”).

This song, a cover of the British folk tune “The Picnic,” also drew attention as the theme for an au commercial featuring the Santaro characters.

Spring is a season of fresh starts, and everything feels new to everyone.

Instead of shrinking back from the unknown, you grow by trying anything with a “let’s give it a shot” mindset.

When something new pops up and you find yourself hesitating, listen to this song, summon your courage with a hearty “Here goes!” and give it a try!

cherrysupittsu

When this song was released, I vaguely remembered it being around springtime, so I looked it up—and sure enough, it came out right in the middle of spring, in April 1996.

Cherry, despite having no tie-in, topped the charts, and it can be said to embody the momentum Spitz had gained after joining the ranks of top bands in 1995 with hits like Robinson and Namida ga Kirari☆, as well as the million-selling classic album Honey.

It features a quintessential Spitz arrangement—delicate yet meticulous—built on clean-tone arpeggios, the frontman Masamune Kusano’s evergreen voice weaving a sublime melody, and lyrics that, while using distinctive rhetoric, carry a warm, nostalgic air like a spring breeze.

Everything is perfect.

It’s also important that the latter half of the song takes on a slightly more serious turn.

I’d love to spend a leisurely moment with this song, basking in spring’s dappled sunlight.

to blossom; to bloom (literally: flowers smiling). Often used poetically to describe flowers blooming or a gentle, smiling expression like a flower.sumi ka

Released as if marking a light, springlike step, Sumika’s “Hanaemu” (“Smiling Blossoms”).

Like a page from youth itself, this song has continued to bathe many hearts in warm sunshine since its debut on March 28, 2022.

Its lyrics, which sing of the courage and hope to walk one’s own path, give energy to those taking a step into a new season.

Sumika’s clear vocals and the exhilarating, beautiful sound are just like spring sunlight.

A perfect song for spring, when meetings and farewells overlap.
