aonori (green laver seaweed)Buriifu & Torankusu

Brief & Trunks “Aonori” LIVE at Shibuya Public Hall
aonori (green laver seaweed)Buriifu & Torankusu

This is a signature song by Brief & Trunks, a folk duo from Shizuoka Prefecture.

With its comical theme and universally relatable content, it gained support across a wide range of age groups.

The lyrics progress in a very straightforward way: they contrast the beloved person’s beautiful appearance with the disappointing little flaws you only notice because you look so closely—flaws that kind of ruin the image.

It’s a fun song to listen to, yet it also leaves you with a slightly scary feeling of, “Am I really okay…?”

I’ll buy you some juice ♡gurūpu damashii

Decked out in punkish leather items with a strong core fanbase, and holding a slipper emblazoned with the word “Soul” in one hand.

Group Tamashii’s signature track “I’ll Buy You Juice ♡,” released in 2005, is also famous as the opening theme for the anime Sgt.

Frog (Keroro Gunsō).

It’s a song that always makes you chuckle: just when you think they’re offering to buy juice, they follow it up with some pretty outrageous demands, which is hilarious—so it’s one you’ll want to read through carefully like dialogue.

At live shows, it’s a crowd-pleaser that heats up with back-and-forth interactions between the band and an audience member they call on.

Many anime fans might think, “I can’t believe that song turned into this.” It’s a Japan-metal-style cover of the opening theme from the anime YuruYuri, sung by voice actor Hiroki Yasumoto.

It was included as the coupling track on a character song single from the manga Yuri Danshi.

That cute song gets turned into a gritty, hard-driving track with an incredibly deep male voice… You can really tell the creators had fun making it.

In any case, it’s amazing how open-minded YuruYuri is to have given this the green light.

Nihon Break Kogyo Company Songman Z

From both the title and the song’s content, it’s often taken as a joke song, but it was actually composed as the official company anthem for a real demolition contractor.

One of its charms is its distinctive sound—reminiscent of classic anime themes—which is far removed from the typical image of a company song.

Aimed in part at improving the public image of demolition work—where loud noises accompany repeated, delicate tasks—the song portrays the employees like heroes who stand up to evil.

That metaphor might be what makes the track so entertaining.

Baka, go home.milktub

Baka, go home.milktub

It’s a song about how dumb I am, but by the time you finish listening, you end up feeling super energized! It’s a track by the music unit milktub, released as their first single in 2010.

It was used as the ending theme for the anime “Baka and Test: Summon the Beasts.” With a catchy, punkish rock sound, it lifts your spirits on that alone.

The lyrics make you want to say, “Now this is what you call ‘baka’ (idiotic),” but that’s exactly why it feels so refreshing.

Let’s Go! OnmyojiYabeno Hikomaro, Kotohime, Bouzu Dansaazu

Especially if you were someone who watched the site a lot when Niconico Douga first launched, this will probably feel nostalgic.

The song originally appears in the game “Shin Gōketsuji Ichizoku: Bonnō Kaihō.” It’s a wildly chaotic track that blends Eurobeat-style sounds with lyrics themed around onmyoji.

Countless people were introduced to internet culture through this song.

Just hearing it brings that video flooding back to mind.

By the way, this PV is actually the oldest upload among all the videos posted on Niconico Douga.

Brain Misoo Husband Exercisesnou misoo

Brain Misoo Husband Exercisesnou misoo

This is exactly what it means when a song gets stuck in your head after just one listen.

It’s a track by comedian Nōmiso-o (Nōmisoo), released in 2017, and its surreal vibe became a hot topic on social media.

Just hit play and you’ll see what I mean! The further you listen, the more it’ll make you laugh—and you’ll start wanting to sing it yourself.

It’s that kind of song.

There’s choreography, too, so it’s perfect for year-end and New Year parties, welcome/farewell parties, or as a performance at wedding receptions.

Best enjoyed with a big group!
