Hit and popular songs by Supercell

Here we introduce songs by supercell, a creative collective centered around ryo, who handles music production, and made up of multiple illustrators and designers.

Their activities as supercell began when ryo, who had originally been posting songs using Hatsune Miku on Nico Nico Douga, connected with illustrators through those works.

Their songs have become the themes for various anime and video games and have drawn a lot of attention.

At first, ryo used the vocal synthesizer Hatsune Miku for vocals in his music production.

Because of that, he did not initially assume a human would sing the songs, and has said, “Precisely because a machine sings them, I can write lyrics that might otherwise feel embarrassing.” He is particular about using the first ideas that come to mind as they are, without unnecessary embellishment.

Our Footprintssupercell

Supercell – Bokura No Ashiato – Sub Español
Our Footprintssupercell

The ending theme of the anime Black★Rock Shooter.

It’s a gentle ballad that calls out to us to keep moving forward toward tomorrow, even if only a little at a time.

The “Footprints of Us” in the title may be the proof of those who keep taking small steps like that.

Herosupercell

As the theme song for Aoharu, a special issue of Weekly Young Jump, this is a fast-paced youth-meets-girl track newly written by supercell.

Centered on the magazine’s concept of “youth and heroine,” the song paints in music the story of a somewhat unremarkable ‘me’ up until the moment he meets ‘her.’

Love is Warsupercell

A song released by supercell following “Melt,” which established a legend.

The illustrations are by Shirow Miwa, known for his stylish art style.

Right after the intro, it unleashes a fierce shout that hardly seems like it could come from a virtual singer, and it’s a perfectly pitched rock tune that likens love to war while still evoking a poignant sense of empathy.

To mesupercell

It’s a quiet, profound song that feels like a letter to one’s past self.

The delicate lyrics woven by ryo of supercell and the simple arrangement featuring only piano accompaniment resonate deeply with listeners.

Through a dialogue with oneself, the piece portrays the importance of growth and self-acceptance, and it was released in March 2011.

It’s a fitting track to close out the album “Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari.” I recommend it to those who feel uneasy in a new environment or who want to reflect on past choices.

It may strike an even deeper chord when listened to during spring—the season of farewells and new beginnings.

Time Trainsupercell

At first it’s slow and quiet, gradually raising the tension as if it’s about to burst into full acceleration—yet it teases the listener by speeding up only little by little until the chorus, where it unleashes a sensation of racing forward as if leaving everything behind.

It’s a song aimed at boys and girls.

We’re still heresupercell

A track included on the album “ZIGAEXPERIENTIA.” A ballad that gently supports you in times of worry and pain, delivered tenderly through Koeda’s voice and the rich tones of the piano.

It’s been crafted into a song befitting the final track of the album.

Goodbye Memoriessupercell

Goodbye Memoriessupercell

A classic from supercell’s second major single.

From an intro that evokes cherry blossoms, it brilliantly shifts into a fresh, upbeat tune.

Looking back on youthful memories before graduation and swaying with the feelings of unrequited love, the lyrics are something anyone can relate to.
