Introducing popular J-pop songs that start with “Ta”!

Have you heard of shiritori karaoke, where you connect songs by using the last letter of the previous song’s title? Surprisingly, it can get pretty exciting—sometimes you can’t think of any songs, or there aren’t as many singable ones as you expect.

So this time, I’ll introduce a bunch of Japanese songs that start with “ta.” I’ve picked popular J-POP tracks so you can use them both for karaoke and for playing shiritori using only song titles.

Please use this as a reference, and if there’s a song you’d like to try singing, go for it!

Introducing songs that start with “Ta” from popular J-POP! (491–500)

Takeda Bushi (Takeda Song)Ishihara Junko

Takeda-bushi is a folk-style song sung by Michiya Mihashi, composed in 1961.

Being relatively modern, it can be enjoyed with a richly orchestrated, immersive performance.

The “Takeda” in the title refers to Takeda Shingen, and the song is beloved in Nagano and Yamanashi, regions closely associated with him.

Among folk songs, it is especially popular for karaoke; combined with its lyrics, the song’s bold, spirited, and powerful tone is particularly appealing.

It has many fans and became even more well-known when Kiyoshi Hikawa covered it.

Mariya Takeuchieki

Mariya Takeuchieki

City pop, which drew worldwide attention from the late 2010s, started gaining notice in Japan after we entered the 2020s.

When it comes to female singer-songwriters who represent city pop, many people probably think of Mariya Takeuchi.

Her songs are stylish yet all very catchy.

Among her works, the one I especially recommend is Eki (Station).

I think everyone has heard it at least once.

Since it uses no falsetto and has a narrow vocal range, it’s easy for any woman to sing.

KERENMI & Atarayo - If Only I Could Say I Love You (Music Video) Theme Song for the Film “Kokan Uso Nikki” (The Liar’s Exchange Diary)
If only I could say I love youKERENMI & atarayo

This is a collaborative track by KERENMI and Atarayo that delicately weaves a portrait of hearts that can’t easily be honest.

It captures the subtle emotions of high school students exchanging diary entries with exquisite nuance, and the fusion of classic J-pop melodies with a nostalgic sound vividly depicts a coming-of-age unique to today, where analog and digital coexist.

Released digitally in July 2023, the song drew attention as the theme for the film “Kokan Uso Nikki” (The Exchange Diary of Lies).

It’s a must-listen for anyone who can relate to the flutter of falling in love for the first time, the feelings swelling inside, or those who want to convey their precious emotions to someone special.

This is a Japanese-style ballad that captures the fleeting beauty of love.

Jun Sakishima’s translucent vocals exquisitely convey a dreamlike world.

While honoring traditional Japanese melodies, the modern arrangement draws out a fresh allure.

Released in March 2025, the piece pairs a lyrical melody with gentle vocals that deeply resonate with listeners.

Its artistic quality has been highly praised, including a nomination as a candidate work for the Japan Music Authors Association’s “Songs of the Heart Concert.” It’s recommended for anyone who wants to connect with the delicacy and poignancy of being in love, or who seeks the soothing comfort of a tender voice.

Taxi to the MoonPenthouse

Penthouse is a band that’s gained popularity for its stylish yet powerful musicality.

Vocalist Namioka has a rare vocal timbre: despite a wide range, he delivers a thick, husky voice.

Among Penthouse’s songs, the one I especially recommend is Taxi to the Moon.

Beyond the shouts, it features plenty of ad-libs, and it brings together numerous vocal techniques—from groove to rap flow.

If you want to elevate your overall vocal ability, definitely add it to your repertoire.

The sun is burning.THE YELLOW MONKEY

A song that portrays a passionate love blazing like the sun—perfect for the summer heat.

Its powerful rock sound and Kazuya Yoshii’s distinctive vocals weave a fiery message that can’t help but set listeners’ hearts ablaze.

Released in January 2022, it was also chosen as the opening theme for TV Asahi’s “J.League A GOGO!!,” earning love from a wide audience.

Recommended for those who want a refreshing feeling while driving or who want to belt it out at karaoke.

It’s sure to become the perfect track for making summer memories.

Rondo of the Sun and Moonporifo

[Hatsune Miku & Megurine Luka] Rondo of the Sun and Moon [Original]
Rondo of the Sun and Moonporifo

This song portrays a mature romance where profound sorrow and fierce love intersect.

Created by Porifo, it quickly became a hot topic after being posted on a video-sharing site in February 2010.

It’s a duet by Hatsune Miku and Megurine Luka, whose voices beautifully bring out the heartrending story.

The sentimental lyrics in the chorus really pierce the heart.

Recommended for those troubled by love or anyone who wants to immerse themselves in a dramatic world.
