Songs with titles that start with “te.” Perfect for shiritori karaoke or song-title shiritori!

Can you think of any words that start with “te”? There are lots, whether in Japanese or English—like “tegami” (letter), “tentai” (celestial bodies), “teen,” and “take,” to name a few.

In this article, I’ll introduce a selection of songs that start with such words—tracks with titles beginning with “te.” Feel free to use this as a hint for karaoke shiritori where you connect the last character of a song title to the next, or for shiritori played with song titles only.

Since I’m assuming you might sing them at karaoke, I’ll mainly feature well-known J-pop this time.

Heavenly TrainTHE STREET SLIDERS

The Street Sliders tore through their 20-year career as if racing against time.

They charged straight down the middle of rock without a glance to the side, and I imagine many people are still fans today.

What stands out about the song “Heaven Train” is how short the lyrics are—you’ll probably be surprised if you look at the lyric sheet.

The content feels reckless and self-destructive, yet also as if it’s moving forward according to some plan—what you see changes depending on who’s listening.

One interpretation is that the “heaven” they sang about was actually “hope.” To mark the 40th anniversary of The Street Sliders’ debut, an official website has launched.

The theme song for April 2004 was Te no Hira o Taiyō ni, sung by all the Mezamashi TV announcers.

It’s a song the whole family knows, and just listening to it puts you in a good mood! Some of you might have done the Mezamashi Taiso using this song every morning without fail.

From April onward, versions with different artists each month served as the theme song through December of that year.

It’s one of the most memorable theme songs in the show’s history!

Tengaku -Dual Resonance- / Yuuyu feat. Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len
Heavenly Musicyūyū P

Rock music by Yuuyu-P, famous for “Deep Sea Girl.” It’s a great song for male singers who can hit high notes—definitely give it a try.

Wagakki Band has also covered it, so sing whichever version is easier for you.

Since many people say it doesn’t sound very Vocaloid-like, it’s perfect for singing with people you’re meeting for the first time.

A light, upbeat number by GINJI ITO’s elusive band Coconuts Bank, an artist active since the early days when Japan’s New Music and City Pop began to spread and who has connections with many musicians, singing of the start of summer.

It’s delightful—like feeling a fresh early-summer breeze drift in.

Letter ~As the Music to Come~
LetterSambomasutā

This is their seventh single, released in 2006.

It blends gentle, unpretentious songs with emotional ones, creating a sound that feels somehow nostalgic and brings back various memories as you listen.

It’s included on their best-of album, and I highly recommend giving it a listen at least once.
