Guardian Pirate Rock ’n’ Roll

A thank-you party to express our gratitude to the teachers.
Ideally, the performances should be something that make both parents and children smile together.
How about a “Pirate Rock ’n’ Roll” number led by the parents? Parents dressed in matching costumes performing a perfectly synchronized dance will warm the teachers’ hearts, and it’s sure to get the kids excited too.
It’s bound to become a memorable performance for everyone there.
Practicing the dance will be tough, but you’ll also experience the emotion and sense of accomplishment when you see it through.
Balloon release

A balloon release is an event where everyone lets balloons fly into the sky.
The sight of a large number of colorful balloons soaring upward is exciting.
To make the scene even more vivid, the key is to launch as many balloons as possible in a tight cluster.
The balloons will drift away and disappear into the sky, but attaching a message card to them might be a nice touch.
The Japan Balloon Association has established guidelines for safety and environmental considerations for balloon releases, so be sure to consult them when preparing.
Medal Awarding Ceremony

At kindergarten and nursery school events, it’s common to see teachers presenting awards to children.
For the thank-you party, why not flip the usual roles and have the children present award medals to the teachers? You could put straightforward messages of gratitude on the medals, or tailor each award to highlight what’s wonderful about each teacher.
Knowing that the children designed the medals and chose the messages just for them is sure to be very touching.
Surprise cake

If you want to create a moving, surprise-filled atmosphere, giving a surprise cake is perfect.
Cakes make the moment of presenting it exciting, and afterward everyone can share it and deepen their bond.
It’s especially effective to give it at an unexpected time, like after a thank-you party, or to present it along with a musical performance.
It’s also a great idea to have an original cake made at a shop that does custom decorations.
Some places will even draw a portrait on the cake, so be sure to check them out.
flash mob

If you want to plan a surprise for a thank-you party, a flash mob is highly recommended.
A flash mob is a surprise where people you thought were unrelated suddenly start performing.
For a thank-you party, it might be nice if the parents suddenly start dancing and then the children join in.
Depending on your budget, you could also invite professional performers.
Be sure to prepare so the person you’re surprising doesn’t catch on.
glass harp

Did you know that if you fill a glass with water and run your finger around the rim, it produces a beautiful tone? This is called a glass harp, and the pitch changes depending on how much water is in the glass.
How about holding a glass harp performance at the appreciation party? It will take some practice, but if you choose songs everyone can enjoy, it’s sure to become a wonderful memory.

Magic that makes communicating with children fun! Here’s a mysterious paper bag idea.
How about putting on a curious and delightful act that makes it look like the teacher has turned into a magician? Put a card with an apple illustration into a paper bag, do a countdown, and then—surprise!—a real apple appears from the bag.
The children will be fascinated by the magic and the teacher’s movements.
You can almost hear them asking, “How did you make the apple appear?”
