Like a birdŌhashi Torio

This is a gentle number by ohashiTrio, selected in October 2017 as the theme song for TBS’s “The World Heritage.” Later included on the best album “ohashiTrio best Too,” the piece is notable for its warm piano and sweeping strings.

The sound seems to mirror birds soaring across vast landscapes, inviting listeners’ hearts to a sky of freedom.

When you want to step away from daily life for a refresh, or when you’re filled with a longing to travel, listening to it will surely make your heart feel lighter.

Why not experience the sensation of being enveloped by majestic nature?

TRAINsutoreitenaa

An upbeat tune featuring simple drums and guitar, with a bass that keeps delivering striking lines.

The lyrics poetically capture the fragile, glass-like state of mind of a traveler on a long journey, while the driving instrumentation conveys the strength to keep moving forward.

This exquisite division of roles between the lyrics and the sound work is both unique and a major strength.

Despite its simplicity, the song can really build excitement, and its difficulty is neither too easy nor too hard, which is why many people covered it in their youth.

Since its 2007 release, it has remained a beloved classic.

The melodies woven by Fujii Kaze resonate warmly, as if close to the heart, carried by soulful arrangements and nostalgic breakbeats.

Released in March 2021, it was written as the theme song for the TV Asahi Thursday drama “Nijiiro Karte,” and is included on the album LOVE ALL SERVE ALL.

Beloved as a classic travel song and covered by many singers, Momoe Yamaguchi’s famous piece “Ii Hi Tabidachi” is often heard in JR commercials and at train stations—so for many people, trains bring this song to mind.

While the original has the feel of a journey northward tinged with hidden sorrow rather than a straightforward “travel song,” Chihiro Onitsuka’s cover, “Ii Hi Tabidachi — Nishi e,” features newly written lyrics as a JR West campaign song, tailored to western Japan.

Both Momoe Yamaguchi and Shinji Tanimura, who wrote the lyrics and composed the music, have praised her vocals, and you may sense a different kind of travel sentiment from the original.

These days, the song “Choo Choo TRAIN” is strongly associated with EXILE.

It’s also famous for “that dance” where they spin around.

The track was originally released by Zoo in 1991 and was, of course, a massive hit at the time.

Not only EXILE but many other well-known artists have covered it, singing and dancing to the song.
