[2026] Amazing call-and-response and harmonies! A cool twin-vocal band
When it comes to bands, many people picture a single lead vocalist, but twin-vocal bands—where two singers alternate or sing together—are incredibly cool too!
Their stunning harmonies go far beyond simple backing vocals, and by making the most of each singer’s voice and character, the music gains much greater expressiveness and depth.
And if the delivery leans into a rap style, it can feel even faster and more energetic than having just one singer.
In this article, we’ll introduce twin-vocal bands with a wider range of expression.
If you find a band you like, be sure to check out their other songs as well.

HeroineFORGET ME A NOTS

They’re a three-piece melodic punk band based out of the Chiba LOOK live house in Chiba Prefecture, lighting up live venues across Japan.
While female-fronted punk bands have become more common since the 2010s, they ramped up their activity in 2005, making them something of a pioneering presence.
The band’s appeal lies in the dynamic interplay among its three vocalist-instrumentalists: bassist-vocalist Chie Takahashi, whose weapon is an aggressive sonic approach and a powerful high-tone voice; guitarist-vocalist Taichi Ishitsubo, whose mid-low range resonates with strength; and drummer-vocalist Takayuki Abe, known for his warm, gentle singing voice.
THAT’S THE WAY WE UNITEBACK DROP BOMB

Let me introduce BACK DROP BOMB, a band with an irresistibly groovy sound.
They’re a rock band that has been active since 1994, creating songs that blend elements from various genres such as hip-hop, reggae, and metal.
Overall, their music leans heavily toward hip-hop and rock, so if you like intense tracks, you’ll probably love them.
Their vocals are close to rap, which is part of the appeal—you can enjoy rapid-fire harmonies and mic relays that layer in with a slightly overlapping delivery.

LOCALCONNECT is a five-piece band from Kyoto.
Their rich, full-bodied sound is layered with twin vocals, giving their songs a powerful presence.
Each word of their lyrics runs deep, and the careful, heartfelt delivery of the vocals is truly moving.
Hammer (4.8 Billion Blues)THE BLUE HEARTS

Since their formation in 1985, THE BLUE HEARTS have remained a beloved, indispensable presence in Japan’s rock scene.
And when it comes to their vocalist, of course we’re talking about Hiroto Kōmoto! His signature raspy voice is packed with raw energy—just how many rock fans has it sent into a frenzy over the years? Guitarist Masatoshi Mashima also occasionally takes the lead vocals.
He, too, has a husky, weathered tone, and with a slightly higher pitch than Hiroto’s, he adds a vivid flourish to their songs.
Hey, Mr. EmptyAIR SWELL

AIR SWELL is a three-piece rock band whose appeal lies in wild tracks driven by a tough, hard-hitting rock sound.
If you listen without looking at the lyrics, you might think, “Are they singing in English?”—but in fact, most of their lyrics are in Japanese! Delivering those Japanese lyrics with an English-like phrasing is guitarist-vocalist hamaken, whose rugged voice perfectly matches the band’s vibe.
Bassist hiromitsu also takes lead vocals at times, and his edgy, bad-boy tone makes AIR SWELL’s songs even cooler and louder.
