Challenge your limits! A collection of Vocaloid songs with high keys and soaring high melodies
Many people probably have the impression that “Vocaloid songs have high keys.” In fact, the pitch range you can manipulate with synthetic vocal software is quite wide.
If you own one, you know—you’ve probably tried making it sing at absurdly high pitches, right? In this article, I’ve put together a list of Vocaloid songs with high keys! I think it’s a playlist that can help you choose songs for karaoke or cover videos.
Strictly speaking, in music theory there’s a difference between “a melody that includes high notes” and “a song with a high key,” but I’ve kept things loose here to be more accessible.
By all means, challenge the limits of your own vocal cords!

last resortAyase

Ayase, the composer for the music duo YOASOBI, which has garnered immense support from Gen Z, is also active as a Vocaloid producer.
Among his songs, the one with the highest key is Last Resort.
It was included on the 2019 album Ghost City Tokyo.
The track features a deep sound with a melancholic atmosphere.
Be sure to pay attention to Hatsune Miku’s languid vocals as she sings of a bittersweet love.
Because the song unfolds with an orthodox melody line, it’s also recommended for beginners to Vocaloid music.
Try singing it with a high, conversational tone in mind.

Alien AlienNayutan Seijin

Speaking of Nayutan Seijin, they’re a well-known creator famous for crafting songs characterized by digital rock sounds that make heavy use of electronic tones.
This track is a pop tune with those very traits, and as the title includes “Alien,” it takes on a slightly mysterious air as well.
You might brace yourself, wondering what kind of message rides on such a sound—but the lyrics, filled with irresistibly cute feelings, will surely leave you warm and fuzzy.
A love in tempo: sprightly, adorable, and a little uncanny.
It’s a song not only to listen to, but one you should try singing, too.
Evasion of the EndHiiragi Magunetaito

Hiiragi Magnetite’s “Shūen Tōhikō” (Finale Escape) can be called a work that greatly expanded the possibilities of Vocaloid.
Its melodies make full use of the wide vocal range and are pleasant to the ear, drawing listeners into its world.
It’s a song that tests one’s singing technique, with soaring high notes that truly stand out.
The lyrics evoke a Taisho Romantic atmosphere, stirring the listener’s imagination.
It’s a piece that offers new discoveries no matter how many times you listen.
pinkMARETU

For those who like songs with a dual nature, “Pink” will be a perfect fit.
This track is by Vocaloid producer MARETU, featuring Hatsune Miku.
It starts off with a cute vibe—complete with references to sweets—but gradually shifts into a darker atmosphere.
In the latter half, the sampled chainsaw sound kicks the energy up even more.
The key is high, but not throughout the entire song, so it might be relatively easier to sing.
Save some stamina for the second half.
ten-faced figureYM

This is a song that depicts a girl who has ended up with ten different personalities.
How did it happen, and what will become of her from there? Her feelings are spun intensely and enigmatically.
As if mirroring a quickening crush, the melody is structured to gradually pick up tempo, making it captivating even without the story told in the lyrics.
Loved by many and even adapted into a novel, this song is one you can enjoy to your heart’s content—especially recommended for rock fans.
Transparent Elegyn-buna

This is a poignantly melancholic track sent out into the world by n-buna, who is active as a member of the band Yorushika.
Many listeners have likely found their tears welling up at the song, woven with a voice that sounds almost as if it’s crying—husky and fragile.
Yet it’s not merely a sad song; it feels as though it spills out the raw feelings from deep within the heart, culminating in a piece that radiates tremendous energy.
Let yourself be overwhelmed by this song’s extraordinary intensity, a force powerful enough to crush those who listen.
Failed Girlkairiki bea × MARETU

A bouncy yet somewhat dark Vocaloid track you’ll want to play on repeat.
It’s a collaboration song by popular Vocaloid producers Kairiki Bear and MARETU, released in 2015.
The synth riffs and drum tracks are awesome, and you can even feel some metal elements in the instrumental break.
The lyrics—steeped in self-deprecation, like “I’m a person the world doesn’t need”—really hit home.
If you sing it at karaoke, be careful not to strain your throat.
Let the rhythm of the song move your body, and enjoy.
