Hit and popular songs by WANDS

We’d like to introduce songs by WANDS, the rock band that achieved million-seller hits with multiple tracks such as “Toki no Tobira” and “Sekai ga Owaru made wa…”.

WANDS is known for songs that epitomize the ’90s and was one of the flagship artists of their then-label, Being.

They shifted to the alternative sound that was mainstream overseas at the time with their 10th single “SAME SIDE,” but it wasn’t well received domestically back then, and sales did not grow.

However, in recent years “SAME SIDE” has been reevaluated, and vocalist Uesugi, who composed it, has reflected that “it has become the origin of my current music.”

It still sounds incredibly cool today, and the husky vocals are wonderful.

Please enjoy WANDS’s many classic tracks in this playlist.

KEEP ON DREAMWANDS

The B-side track of the 9th single, “Secret Night ~It’s My Treat~.” Not included on any album.

A rock ballad about parting ways.

With pounding, intense drums that evoke the image of unending rain, it’s a dramatic piece whose performance is meticulously crafted down to the finest details.

The Sun’s SighWANDS

An unreleased song included on the best-of album “BEST OF WANDS HISTORY,” released on June 9, 2000.

It’s a refreshing rock ’n’ roll track that sings of yearning for wind-like freedom amid the reality that one cannot live alone.

Mr.JAILWANDS

Somehow, it’s only now hitting me that I’ll never be able to hear it live again, and when I thought that, even the footage felt so precious that tears started to well up.

I feel like those were truly wonderful times.

I wish we could go back to an era when a song like this could move us so deeply.

Only this dream…WANDS

A song included at the end of the debut album “WANDS.” It begins quietly with lyrics that invite a relaxed listen, builds up as a rock number, and fades out in a flurry of “La La La,” forming a fantastical, grand-scale ballad that sings of darkness, dreams, and hope.

Released on February 26, 1996 as the 11th single.

It was used as the opening theme for a late-night music program.

The lyrics reflect on loneliness, dreams, lies, and reality.

The song has a straightforward rock ’n’ roll feel.

Turn around and hold meWANDS

Released on May 13, 1992 as the second single.

It was used as the opening theme for a live broadcast information program.

The song portrays the feelings of a man swayed by a woman’s sweet words.

The interplay with the chorus is very nimble, resulting in a lively, up-tempo, danceable track.

With a glass heartWANDS

A track included on the album “Toki no Tobira.” It’s a rock song that evokes scenes of the sea, a breakwater, and dazzling sunlight.

While reflecting on how the two of them felt endlessly distant back when they first met, it asks what the singer can do now, delivering that message in song.
