Hit and popular songs by WANDS
We’d like to introduce songs by WANDS, the rock band that achieved million-seller hits with multiple tracks such as “Toki no Tobira” and “Sekai ga Owaru made wa…”.
WANDS is known for songs that epitomize the ’90s and was one of the flagship artists of their then-label, Being.
They shifted to the alternative sound that was mainstream overseas at the time with their 10th single “SAME SIDE,” but it wasn’t well received domestically back then, and sales did not grow.
However, in recent years “SAME SIDE” has been reevaluated, and vocalist Uesugi, who composed it, has reflected that “it has become the origin of my current music.”
It still sounds incredibly cool today, and the husky vocals are wonderful.
Please enjoy WANDS’s many classic tracks in this playlist.

WANDS’ famous and popular songs (21–30)
Surely more than anyone else in the worldWANDS

A collaboration song with Miho Nakayama, released as a single on October 28, 1992.
The album version is included on Toki no Tobira.
Used as the theme song for a TV drama starring Miho Nakayama, it became a major hit.
This love song resonates with the heart through the gentle prayer woven into its lyrics.
I want to take only you away just like this.WANDS

I think this is a song many people know from DEEN, but did you know there’s also a version sung by WANDS? For those who don’t, it’s a hidden gem.
The vocals are as wonderful as ever and nostalgic, and even now it feels like a slightly bittersweet ballad.
WANDS’ classic and popular songs (31–40)
Cloudy SkyWANDS

A track included on their debut album “WANDS,” released on June 17, 1992.
The lyrics portray a feeling of defiance in the face of a dead-end life.
It’s a piece of pop music notable for its gleaming synth tones and light, stylish backing vocals.
Secret Night 〜It’s My Treat〜WANDS

Released on February 13, 1995 as the ninth single.
It was used as the opening theme for a late-night music program.
This is a soaring rock ’n’ roll track that employs expansive vocals to sing about a decadent worldview and hope.
Sleeping FishWANDS

WANDS’ vocalist Uesugi is really handsome and cool, isn’t he? There aren’t many bands that are both visually striking and musically cool.
This song is unlike any other—the way it starts off quietly and alone feels so poignant, and it’s one of my favorites.
It makes me want to listen to it by myself.
DON’T CRYWANDS

This is a track included on the album “Little Bit…”.
It’s a medium-tempo rock number powerfully sung about believing in the dawn and overcoming sorrow while contemplating the meaning of a ruined friend’s life.
The positive lyrics carry a deeply moving message.
WORST CRIMEWANDS
This was the masterpiece that became their final single.
I don’t think anyone expected it to be the last.
You can even feel a stark, almost fierce atmosphere, as if they’re singing with intense passion and soul.
I wish I could have heard them once more—more masterpieces.
