"This will lift your spirits" Refresh! Cheerful Western Music (111–120)
Wow And FlutterStereolab

A track included on their fourth album, Mars Audiac Quintet, released in 1994 by the British indie pop band.
Their sound, which makes extensive use of unusual keyboards like the Moog, was so fresh and innovative at the time that there were virtually no similar bands.
From beginning to end, the song carries a mysterious sense of weightlessness and a cosmic flow of time—an underrated gem.

RoamThe B-52’s

A track from the album Cosmic Thing, which they released in 1989 after years of working in the rather modest role of a dance-party band.
The album itself was nominated for a Grammy, and they went on to stay active, collaborating and interacting with R.E.M., among others.
In Dust We TustThe Chemical Brothers

A pivotal track in electronics that even drew in rock lovers as fans.
The reason they were at the very center of rock at the time—collaborating with Oasis’s Noel Gallagher, for instance—was ultimately the unmistakably real drum sound, so atypical of dance music.
Their method was to add a sense of exhilaration to that foundation and create futuristic music.
Baby BluesThe Cranberries

Included as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of “Bury The Hatchet.” A breezy song in which Dolores, who in the previous work seemed overly inclined toward political messages, candidly sings about the inner changes she experienced after giving birth.
While the main album is by no means light in content, having this song at the end leaves quite a different impression.
Last NightThe Vamps

This song by the British pop rock band The Vamps is a lively, upbeat track that sings, “Last night we sang and danced the night away to our favorite songs.” It’s the perfect tune to liven up a party with friends.
In Blue HawaiiBrian Wilson

A superb track that develops from a subdued tone at the beginning into a melody that evokes a bright blue sky.
It is included on Smile, the long-lost Beach Boys album that stalled in production and was finally completed about 33 years later in 2004 as a solo work by Brian, the band’s principal songwriter and central figure.
The process by which he, whose mental state had deteriorated during the original sessions 33 years earlier, found healing through completing the work and unveiling it in concert was also released as a documentary and became a major talking point.
Every Day Is A HolidayKaty Perry

This Christmas-packed song by pop singer Katy Perry was released to coincide with clothing brand H&M’s holiday campaign.
Influenced by gospel, it’s a Christmas dance track—a romantic number that sings about love being the best Christmas present of all.
