Born in 2001 and based in London, singer-songwriter and producer PinkPantheress rose to prominence in Japan after taking the top spot in the BBC’s annually anticipated “Sound of 2022,” a list of up-and-coming artists.
While still a university student, she posted original songs on TikTok and scored a viral hit with “Break It Off,” which boldly samples drum and bass artist Adam F’s classic “Circles.” Her fresh, new-generation sensibility has earned high praise not only in the UK but also in the United States.
This time, I’d like to introduce “Where you are,” a track she released in April 2022.
Built around clean-toned, indie rock-style guitar phrases, the finely chopped beat functions less as a club driver and more as a way to create a languid, wistful atmosphere—very stylish indeed.
The guest vocals from Willow—Will Smith’s daughter and a popular artist of the same generation as PinkPantheress—fit perfectly as well.
Stateside + Zara LarssonPinkPantheress
London-based singer and producer PinkPantheress has garnered attention for her skill in transforming UK garage and drum’n’bass into pop.
Her 2025 album Fancy That was well received, and this time we’re introducing Stateside, a refreshed take on a classic featuring Swedish singer Zara Larsson.
