A Guide to Female Western Music Bands: From Legendary Groups to Promising Newcomers (61–70)
JumpersSleater-Kinney

A girls’ trio from Olympia, Washington, USA.
While they never achieved major commercial success, they enjoyed a cult following on the indie scene and, since their formation in 1994, have continued to influence many bands over a long period.
They went on hiatus in 2006, but restarted in 2014 and are now energetically active as a duo with two original members.
Perhaps their most distinctive feature is their bass-less lineup.
In their early days they had a rough, punkish sound emblematic of Riot Grrrl, but later their music became more refined, embracing a rich musicality centered on a supple, distinctly feminine sensibility.
The WireHaim

Haim, whose debut album released in 2013 was a major hit, quickly became a leading girls’ band.
The sound crafted by the three sisters—Este, Danielle, and Alana—carries on the West Coast sound that has continued since the 1970s, delivering music that is hard-edged yet warmly textured.
I Need You To Love MeBarlowGirl

A girls’ Christian rock band from Chicago, Illinois.
Consisting of the Barlow sisters—Alyssa, Rebecca, and Lauren—they deliver straightforward, distinctly American rock ballads with beautiful vocals.
It’s also interesting how they occasionally incorporate gospel elements.
Gimme BrainsBratmobile

A song included on the album “Ladies, Women and Girls,” released in 2000 by the American punk band Bratmobile after a six-year hiatus.
While it has the melody of a pop song, it stands as one of the band’s most powerful tracks.
Cowboy Take Me AwayDixie Chicks

They are a female country music group that proudly boasts a career spanning over 30 years and represents the United States.
Formed in 1989, and after lineup changes, they have been an unshakable trio since 1995, working energetically.
Their music has a universal appeal that transcends the boundaries of country, and their timeless melodies are beloved by music fans around the world.
Unafraid to voice their political views, they became embroiled in controversy severe enough to nearly end their career, yet their convictions never wavered.
It’s no exaggeration to say they stand at the pinnacle of girl bands, continuing to fight against various injustices.
