[Xenoblade BGM] Masterpieces and Popular Tracks from the Xenoblade Series

Nintendo’s popular title Xenoblade is not only an outstanding game in its own right, but the music that plays in-game is truly cool as well.

The Xenoblade series is widely acclaimed for its music, and official soundtracks have been released.

In this article, I’ll introduce the BGM from the very first Xenoblade, which was released for the Wii in 2010!

From hard rock-style tracks to grand and beautiful orchestral arrangements, we’ll look at memorable songs that brought the story to life.

I think both those who have played the game and those who haven’t will enjoy this!

This is the enchanting BGM that plays at night in the area called “Satorl Marsh.” Countless fans have been surprised by the stark contrast between the gentle mood of the track and the strength of the enemies.

The sparkling piano tones and choral work are truly soothing.

The composition is by Ami Kiyota, a musician from Yamanashi Prefecture.

As the title suggests, it’s a masterpiece you’ll want to listen to at night.

The God-Slaying SwordACE+

An incredibly mystical track.

The scene where this song plays is like the core of the game, so if you’ve played it, you were probably really excited, right? The way the music shifts into a driving, fast-paced feel partway through practically mirrors the player’s emotions.

It’s no exaggeration to call this a true classic of game music.

I was literally trembling with awe and excitement as I listened to it!

Prologue BShimomura Yoko / Narita Tsutomu

This is the BGM that starts playing right after the opening battle scene ends.

After an intense fight against waves of seemingly endless enemies, this track kicks in and the game’s title appears.

I feel like there weren’t many games that revealed their titles this stylishly.

Maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but that’s how memorable the opening sequence was.

ZanzaKiyota Manami

It’s a mystical intro with a futuristic-sounding texture and something like a chorus, right? And then midway through, the mood suddenly shifts—doesn’t it make your heart race? Games are supposed to get your heart pumping, and this track takes that feeling to the next level.

The striking, super-cool chorus really stands out.

It gives you chills, doesn’t it?

Beyond the SkyMitsuda Yasunori

Beyond the sky (Japanese version with lyrics/Japanese vocals with lyrics) – Xenoblade ending theme
Beyond the SkyMitsuda Yasunori

Composed by Yasunori Mitsuda and sung by Australian vocalist Sarah Àlainn, this is the ending theme of Xenoblade.

Her soft, gentle voice is so soothing.

The lyrics were written by Tetsuya Takahashi, the game’s executive director.

Centered on thoughts for someone precious to oneself, it’s a masterpiece with outstanding affinity to the story.

Farewell, and…ACE+

Xenoblade OST – Parting, and….
Farewell, and…ACE+

This is the BGM that played when departing from Colony 9 and during the escape from the Imperial Capital Agniratha.

Since the beginning and the end of the journey share the same BGM, it gave me a strangely moving feeling.

When people think of Xenoblade’s music, the fast-paced battle tracks tend to get all the attention, but in fact there are many diverse pieces tailored to scenes and characters like these.

The Time of BattleHiramatsu Kenji

This rhythmic track features guitar phrases and string tones that capture the essence of fusion, with a wonderful interplay between them.

Heard during battles in the additional story “Future Connected” of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, this is “Time to Fight.” Lively drum work interweaves with exhilarating lead lines to create a truly one-of-a-kind world.

The crisp percussion is irresistible, too! It’s enough to make your hands sweat on the controller!
