[Xenoblade BGM] Masterpieces and Popular Tracks from the Xenoblade Series

Nintendo’s popular title Xenoblade is not only an outstanding game in its own right, but the music that plays in-game is truly cool as well.

The Xenoblade series is widely acclaimed for its music, and official soundtracks have been released.

In this article, I’ll introduce the BGM from the very first Xenoblade, which was released for the Wii in 2010!

From hard rock-style tracks to grand and beautiful orchestral arrangements, we’ll look at memorable songs that brought the story to life.

I think both those who have played the game and those who haven’t will enjoy this!

Battle!Shimamura Yōko

Why is it that battles in games have always made us feel like, “All right, let’s do this!!”? Listening to this track brought back that feeling of sitting up straight when a super tough boss appears right in front of you.

If you’re a gamer, you probably know exactly what I mean! It’s a heart-pounding, high-speed rush of a song.

Ah, now I want to get my heart racing with a game, too!

Among the additional tracks in the 2022 remaster Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, this one stands out as one of the most popular.

Created by the music unit ACE, it has a progressive vibe.

Along the way it shifts into a hard rock style and even features a fiercely aggressive piano solo, making for a breathless, captivating progression.

It naturally lifts your spirits as you listen.

As an aside, despite how cool this track is, it’s essentially used for regular enemy encounters.

It feels like a pretty bold choice.

This track was included in Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, the remastered version released in 2020, roughly ten years after the original Xenoblade Chronicles.

It takes its name from the map ‘Bionis’ Shoulder’ featured in the additional story titled ‘Future Connected.’ The song has a clear, transparent feel—you can’t help but be entranced by it.

Even just this piece alone lets you imagine the vastness of the world of Xenoblade Chronicles.

For fans of the original Xenoblade Chronicles, new elements like this introduced in the remake are probably a real treat!

This song really evokes a hopeless, utterly irredeemable situation.

It makes me feel kind of sad… That kind of tragedy, where even a helping hand can no longer reach, is almost a staple in games.

And maybe it’s precisely those sad moments that make a work truly memorable.

This track could be called the essential BGM for scenes like that.

It’s a single track that makes you want to say, “Ah, it’s really ending…” and moves you to tears.

If you’ve played the game, you might know the feeling—haven’t there been times when you think, “I don’t want this game to end!!”? This is the kind of song that makes you feel it was that good of a game.

Great works always come with great music, don’t they?

Just from the title, doesn’t it feel like a song that gets your heart pumping? Not only for battles in games—if you’re fighting through studies or work every day, this track is sure to fire you up.

The percussion is especially effective, like a kind of magic that boosts your motivation.

Give it a listen when you really need that extra push.

As the title suggests, this is the BGM that plays in the area called “Gaur Plain.” Until you reach that area, you explore inside a cave with no background music, so some players were likely moved by the sudden sense of openness and how good the track feels the moment you emerge.

It’s also used as BGM in Super Smash Bros.

for Nintendo 3DS.
