What is the call “Iettai-gaa” at idol concerts?

At idol concerts, there are lots of calls to hype up the crowd. This time, I’d like to explain one of them: “Yess! Tiger!” (known as ‘Iettai-gaa’).

What is Iyaiyai Tiger?

“Iettai Gā” (Yettai-gaa) is ...The chants that otaku shout at idol concertsIt is.

This isIetoraIt is also sometimes called.

This call mainly comes in before the chorus.

In the final chorus, the music sometimes cuts out, right? That’s when the shout of “Yettai-gaa!” echoes throughout the venue.

This song serves as the model for the ‘Iettai-gaa’ chant.

Babyraids JAPAN “Dawn Brand New Days”

At the 3:46 mark of this live video, you can hear a fan’s full-throttle “Iettai-gaa.”

I'm so hooked on it that I almost feel like the song is complete just because of this call-and-response.

I'll introduce one more song.

BiSH「OTNK」

In this song too, after shouting “Yeah yeah yeah” three times before the chorus, “Iettai-gaa” comes in.

BiSH shows are places where fans have a lot of freedom, and the members join in with the fans’ full-on calls and playful energy, so the concerts get really intense.

Negative opinions as well

This “iettai-gaa” isn’t always well-liked; it can be disliked depending on the venue.

I will present negative opinions about Iettai-gaa.

There are also idols who officially prohibit “Iettai-gaa.”

Nemu Yumemi from Dempagumi.inc has also mentioned it on Twitter.

But you can also feel the consideration for the fans, right?

You can hear the 'Iye-ttai-gaa' call during Nemume Yumemi’s solo right before the last chorus of 'Otsukare Summer.'

Honestly,I’d rather hear Nemukyun’s voice than the otaku screams…I can understand how fans feel.

Also,The reason the sound drops out before the chorus is to make you feel the silence. Therefore, some people say it ruins everything.

Indeed, previouslyEXILEI’ve heard that at [Kei/that group’s] concerts, it’s prohibited to shout the members’ names during the silent pause before the last chorus.

Build up the tension with silence before the chorus, emotionallyIt becomes so.

If someone screams here, it’ll ruin everything...

Also, in other opinions,The tiger image doesn’t match the group.and so on, too...

This contradiction arises when the group involves a concept related to animals, doesn’t it?

I hope you’ll create a wonderful concert by making it one that considers how the idols feel.

In the earlier song by Babyraids JAPAN, I feel like the concept of pushing the tiger motif overlapped with the fans’ desire to shout “Yess! Tiger!” (Iettai-gā), making it the perfect track.

You can’t use Iyaiyai Tiger (Yettai Tiger) for every song.

Also, I feel like underground idols have fewer fans and therefore more freedom.

Since Yettai-gaa also started in the underground scene, if someone suddenly shouted 'Yettai-gaa' at a famous idol’s concert, people might go, 'Huh?'

In conclusion

Both of the two example songs feel like they have a hot, intense style that suits “Yettai Tiger.”

Of course, there are cases where things fit and where they don’t.

But if it's a song that fits perfectly like these two, the calls will feel incredibly satisfying!
