Yuzu’s greatest and most popular songs

We’d like to introduce songs by Yuzu, a classic J-pop artist.

Their music is now heard in a variety of settings, and they’re a very popular act.

As a folk duo that performs with just instruments like acoustic guitar and tambourine plus vocals, many people likely practiced their songs when they first started doing acoustic covers.

It’s said that their unit name, Yuzu, comes from the yuzu sherbet they ate at a staff meal for a part-time job they worked at together.

They have many bright, catchy tunes, and plenty you’ll recognize, making them perfect for karaoke.

Why not try practicing with this playlist?

Yuzu’s greatest and most popular songs (111–120)

morning mistyuzu

This is the B-side track to Yuzu’s 24th single, “Story,” released on February 6, 2008.

It has not been included on any album.

It’s a slow-tempo folk song that depicts the scene of the singer singing on a hill while a woman waits for morning as she sleeps.

The place of beginningyuzu

This is “Hajimari no Basho” by Yuzu, also famous as the first theme song of the variety show “Ainori.” I think its refreshing, fast-paced sound matches spring perfectly.

The lyrics also make it an ideal entrance song that newly enrolled students can’t help but relate to.

NATSUMONOGATARIyuzu

Yuzu, making their 12th appearance at the 2021 Kohaku Uta Gassen.

Loved by a wide range of ages and regardless of gender, the duo’s song “NATSUMONOGATARI” was undoubtedly a major talking point this year.

Although it was released digitally in 2021, the song actually has a predecessor: “Sakuragicho,” released in 2004.

Not only its lyrical storytelling but also its melody richly evokes “Sakuragicho,” making it a fan favorite.

It also drew attention because Satomi Ishihara appears in the music videos for both songs.

flower kotodamayuzu

A song that brings a fresh breeze to Japan’s music scene has arrived! Featured on Yuzu’s album “Zukan,” released in July 2024, this heartwarming track centers on the themes of nature’s regeneration and the cycle of life.

It’s characterized by gentle melodies and a well-balanced, harmonious sound.

The lyrics skillfully portray how past experiences and memories give rise to new life, leaving a strong impression.

Showcasing Yuzu’s musicality to the fullest, it’s a song we especially recommend to those who carry deep feelings for someone or something dear.

Tattayuzu

Yuzu is often featured in anime songs, making them a hugely popular act among both adults and children.

The song Tatta was created during Yuzu’s 20th anniversary year.

It’s their first stripped-down, sing-and-play track in 14 years, and the warm tones of the acoustic guitar give you a very gentle feeling.

Children who listen to this song will likely find it easier to enjoy their new surroundings.

era; age; time; periodyuzu

Era / Yuzu Lyrics and Music: Miyuki Nakajima
era; age; time; periodyuzu

This song is a cover of Miyuki Nakajima’s classic “Jidai,” attempted by the two members of Yuzu, who have now firmly established themselves as national musicians.

It’s filled with charms a little different from the original.

It’s a masterpiece I’d love children to listen to.

Highly recommended.
