Yuzu’s greatest and most popular songs

We’d like to introduce songs by Yuzu, a classic J-pop artist.

Their music is now heard in a variety of settings, and they’re a very popular act.

As a folk duo that performs with just instruments like acoustic guitar and tambourine plus vocals, many people likely practiced their songs when they first started doing acoustic covers.

It’s said that their unit name, Yuzu, comes from the yuzu sherbet they ate at a staff meal for a part-time job they worked at together.

They have many bright, catchy tunes, and plenty you’ll recognize, making them perfect for karaoke.

Why not try practicing with this playlist?

Yuzu’s greatest and most popular songs (111–120)

Smileyuzu

A song by YUZU, the folk duo that many people first picture when they hear “artists who started as street musicians.” It’s included on their fourth mini-album, YUZU SMILE, which is themed around “smile.” The acoustic guitar riding a lively shuffle beat and their exquisite harmonies feel so pleasant, don’t they? The choral sections in the song can be sung along by children during performances, creating an even greater sense of unity.

It’s a refreshing number brimming with energy, perfect for a colorful parachute routine.

Included on the 2006 album “Ribbon.” Yuzu is a folk duo from Kanagawa Prefecture formed in 1996.

They’re appealing for their rhythm section’s straight-ahead beat and a melody line reminiscent of the blues.

Riding on that sound, the two vocalists deliver powerful singing, making for a nicely finished track.

Kentaro’s big sisteryuzu

It strays a bit from the theme of “older sister,” but it’s a song about falling in love with a friend’s big sister.

It’s the B-side track to “Ichigo,” a single released in 2009 by Yuzu, one of Japan’s leading folk duos.

sunset cloudsyuzu

Included on the 2016 album “TOWA.” A folk duo from Yokohama formed in 1996.

A light rhythm that unfolds cheerfully at a mid-tempo blends well with a refreshing, truly pop, easy-to-listen-to melody, over which richly expressive vocals come in.

It’s a song that gently seeps into the heart.

goddessyuzu

It is included as the 13th track on the seventh original album, Ribbon, released in January 2006.

It’s a very gentle and beautiful song expressing respect for expectant mothers.

You can clearly feel the heartfelt, emotional congratulations, making it a track that offers a sense of reassurance.

The Ito En “Oi Ocha” commercial titled “Fresh, First Wind of Spring,” featuring Kasumi Arimura, uses Yuzu’s version of the song “Haru Ichiban.” The song was originally released in 1976 by the three-woman group Candies.

Yuzu’s cover is included on their 2001 live album “Utajiki: Futari no Big (Egg) Show-hen.” Unlike Candies’ poppy and cute vibe, Yuzu’s arrangement turns it into a high-energy track filled with a passionate, masculine atmosphere.

Listening to Yuzu’s version might just speed up that rush of wanting to fall in love!
