Cute fisherman

Cute fisherman

A cute fisherman whose appearance running with a big net is sure to excite the crowd.

Parent and child hold the fish-catching net together and run to the spot where the fish are.

The guardian holds the net, the child catches the fish and puts them into the net, then they hold the net together again and run to the next spot.

The next spot is the fish wholesale market—here, unload the fish you caught and line them up on the platform.

After that, carry the now-empty net and head for the finish line.

You could also split teams by net color—red team and white team—and make it a parent-child relay for even more excitement!

Che Che Kori – Oto no Kakehashi Children's Choir

Let us introduce Chekkori Tamaire, a game where everyone has fun dancing together.

Move your body joyfully by dancing to the Che Chekkori song.

As soon as the music stops, throw the balls toward the basket.

Repeat the same sequence within the time limit and compete to see how many balls end up in the basket at the end.

Since ball tossing pauses while everyone is dancing, the whole group can get excited together—that’s a key point.

Chekkori Tamaire gets everyone at the venue dancing, so be sure to give it a try!

Where’s my kid?

Where’s my kid?

I think sports days get more exciting when there are events with a strong element of luck.

So I’d like to introduce “Where’s My Kid?” The rules are very simple.

First, a child hides inside a large cardboard box.

The parent has to find their child hidden in one of the boxes, then give them a piggyback and head for the finish line together.

It’s also fun to tweak the last part into a three-legged race, for example.

You can even switch it so that the parent hides instead of the child.

Since this game allows for many variations, it’s also a great idea to let the kids come up with their own rules.

Perfect for water sports

Perfect for water sports

Let me introduce a fun swimming game that uses swim rings.

Have the children wear swim caps and wait with their bodies through the swim ring.

At the start signal, they run and dive through a “sea” made of streamer tape! On the other side, fish are waiting—have them set down the swim ring and go fishing for a fish.

Once they catch one, they run to the finish line holding their fish! For a parents’ event, you can have the parent carry the child while the child pretends to swim, or make the fish smaller for the parents’ fishing part to increase the difficulty and excitement.

Big Pants Race

Big Pants Race

How about trying a parent-child “giant pants” race that’s fun to watch as they run? Two people get into one oversized pair of pants—each acting as one leg—and aim for the finish line by cooperating and matching their strides.

Unlike a regular race, it also has a bit of an obstacle-course element.

Seeing the big pants moving along is entertaining for spectators, too.

You could even make it a relay by using the giant pants instead of a sash.

It would be great to make different giant pants in each team’s colors, and colorful designs will look great in photos!

[Parent-Child Event] Fishing Game

5 parent-child activities we want to do at kindergarten and nursery school sports days
[Parent-Child Event] Fishing Game

A parent-child event to build strength at the sports day: the Fishing Game.

In this game, the parent is the angler and the child plays the fish.

First, prepare a long towel and tie a knot at one end.

Have your child lie down, pinch the knot between their feet, and firmly hold the remaining length of the towel with both hands.

Once you’re set, the parent (the angler) pulls on the towel the child is holding and drags them along.

Be careful—if either of you loses your grip on the towel, you’ll come apart! If you’re doing this as a sports day event, we recommend a team relay format.

The Hero’s Grand Adventure

The Hero's Grand Adventure

Kids are sure to join in with excitement! Here’s an idea for a Brave Hero’s Grand Adventure.

In this event, parents and children work together to overcome activities like mats and balance beams, defeat a big monster, and then reach the finish line.

Using a crown or a cape as the baton helps create the right atmosphere—highly recommended! Adjust the number and type of activities based on your venue size, and try incorporating it into your sports day.
