Since 2017, the only official member has been guitarist-vocalist Takahiro Shibata, but Wasureranneyo had been active as a three-piece band since they started in 2008.

Their lyrics, which candidly and directly express inner frustrations and feelings of love without embellishment, resonate with many listeners and are beloved by countless fans.

Precisely because the words aren’t pretentious and are written in everyday language, they hit straight to the heart.

Guitar Wolf, a rock band active since 1987, has remained a three-piece from its formation, even as it has gone through member changes.

Before their major debut in Japan, they had already released a CD in the United States in 1992, and they enjoy strong popularity overseas.

Their songs are rooted in rock ’n’ roll and garage rock, delivering a rapid-fire, high-energy sound, and their intense live performances are a must-see.

Also noteworthy is the Shimane Jet Fest, held in Shimane Prefecture—Seiji, the vocalist, spent his elementary through high school years there.

Scarlet -akairo-CIVILIAN

Formed in 2008, they released their first work, “Cutter Knife and a Cold Night.” In 2016, they changed their band name from LYU:LYU to CIVILIAN and made their major-label debut the same year with “Ai/Zō” on Sony Music Records.

Led by Koyama, who writes and composes all their songs, this three-piece band stands out in Japan’s rock scene with lyrics consistently focused on human emotions and rock-solid musicianship.

As a well-balanced band, they are expected to achieve even greater success going forward.

Armed with a piercing high-tone voice and a driving beat propelled by drums and bass, the three members of dustbox deliver a host of songs that could be considered textbook melodic hardcore.

Active since 1996, they saw original member and drummer REIJI depart in 2015, with YU-KI joining afterward, and they’ve continued on as a three-piece band.

Their appeal lies not only in those quintessential melodic hardcore tunes mentioned above, but also in the metallic guitar riffs they occasionally unleash and the tight, intricately filled drumming heard throughout their songs.

They don’t just stop at straight-up melodic hardcore—that’s what makes them so compelling.

FOMARE is a three-piece rock band from Gunma Prefecture that earned overwhelming support on the live circuit even before their major-label debut.

Hailed as new heroes of the melodic hardcore scene, they are gaining attention as next-generation artists set to lead Japan’s rock world.

Their lyrics, which candidly capture genuine, relatable emotions, strongly resonate with younger listeners, while their driving ensemble and beautiful harmonies likely hit hard with longtime melodic hardcore fans as well.

With a simple yet muscular sound unique to a three-piece, they’re a rock band that’s sure to raise your pulse and one to watch closely.

magicHAWAIIAN 6

HAWAIIAN6 initially started out as a Hi-STANDARD cover band.

Back then, especially among three-piece bands, everyone aimed for and looked up to Hi-Standard (lol).

Despite some lineup changes, they’ve continued as a trio with Yuta Yasuno on guitar and vocals, Naofumi Uemura on bass, and Yukihiro Hatano on drums.

Their melodic punk that occasionally tugs at your heartstrings could be called the HAWAIIAN6 style—a punk band with enduring appeal.
