Beyond the nighttsuru

Tsurugi is a band that first catches your eye with their look: afro hair and glasses.
Their hairstyles are more conventional now, but many people probably remember the band because of that striking image (lol).
And the band name “Tsuru” is intriguing too, right? It’s said to come from their hometown, Tsurugashima City in Saitama Prefecture.
They’ve been active without any member changes, and their energetic songs have made them popular.
They also drew attention for providing the theme song to the live-action film adaptation of the popular manga Afro Tanaka.
MoonrakerENTH

Hailing from Nagoya, ENTH once performed as a four-piece but now thrives as a three-piece band.
Bassist daipon handles vocals, making them a classic melodic hardcore outfit with a bass-vocal trio lineup.
Their songs range from quintessential melocore tunes—featuring crisply overdriven guitars and high-speed two-beat rhythms—to looser, danceable tracks with a laid-back feel.
Their fiercely energetic live shows are a must-see for any rock kid.
From Count Ninefisshuraifu

Formed in 2012.
A tight and sharp rock band performed by three members: Hayashing, Miyachi, and Teraoka.
Since their inception, they have won numerous grand prizes, released four consecutive singles, and in 2016 released “EXHIBITION,” produced by Isao Takano, followed by a tour.
In 2018, they released the full album “Mirai Shonen Expo” and successfully held a solo show at Osaka MUSE.
Although their activities seemed to be going smoothly, they sadly disbanded in October of the same year.
You are alive.LOST IN TIME

LOST IN TIME is a three-piece rock band boasting nearly 20 years of activity since forming in 2001.
Their name is taken from a song by the legendary rock band BLOODTHIRSTY BUTCHERS.
With delicate, sentimental lyrics, emotional vocals, and a raw, almost anxious edge to their performance, they bring rock to festivals and live houses alike—wherever they play.
In recent years, they’ve also performed in acoustic arrangements, expanding their artistic world.
NEVERLANDLOSTAGE

LOSTAGE is a three-piece band from Nara Prefecture.
Formed in 2001 around the Gomi brothers—Takehisa on guitar and Takuto on bass—they are known for performing songs that are practically textbook examples of alternative rock.
Their messages and sound reach deep into the heart, gripping listeners and never letting go.
Since 2011, they have been on their independent label, THROAT RECORDS, carefully shaping everything from how they operate to the way they deliver CDs to fans, and they continue to base their activities in their hometown of Nara.
Nightless CityTHE PREDATORS

THE PREDATORS is a band formed in 2005 by an exceptionally star-studded lineup: Sawao Yamanaka from the pillows, JIRO from GLAY, and Shinpei Nakayama from Straightener.
In 2010, Shinpei Nakayama left the band, and since then Hirotaka Takahashi from ELLEGARDEN has taken over on drums.
The band seems to draw inspiration from overseas grunge and punk acts like Nirvana and the Ramones, making it especially recommended for fans of Western rock.
It also has a distinct charm that differs from the vibe of each member’s main band.

Lightly and perkyKaneyori Masaru

A girls’ rock band based in Osaka.
They made their nationwide debut with the 2019 album “Kakegaenaku Naritai,” showcasing a driving, powerful guitar sound paired with cute, translucent vocals.
Their lyrics express delicate feelings—like the impatience and confusion unique to youth that are hard to tell anyone—packing in an everlasting adolescence you never want to forget, which is so wonderful.
With many energetic, powerful tracks, they’re also highly recommended for girls who want to start a band.
