ACIDMAN's famous and popular songs (1–10)
The Last StarACIDMAN

This is a single released on October 26, 2016.
In October 2016, ACIDMAN marked their 20th anniversary as a band and their 15th anniversary since debut.
It’s a song that seems to embody the path humans are currently on, reigning at the top of the ecosystem and food chain.
After the song ended, an indescribable feeling welled up inside me.
It’s an excellent, thought-provoking track.

The intro that starts with an irregular 7-beat rhythm really leaves an impression.
The sound, built from looping phrases, evokes the beauty of something inorganic.
And the contrast with the chorus melody that surges up from below completely does me in.
colors of the windACIDMAN

This is a track included on the 3rd album, “equal.” The song was used in the Disney film Pocahontas as one of its numbers, and this video features ACIDMAN’s cover.
It apparently wasn’t originally planned to be included on the album, but it made the cut because it turned out so well.
Although the image it conveys is quite different from the original, it arguably brings out ACIDMAN’s unique character.
Artificial flowers laughACIDMAN

Although it was released as the first pre-debut single, it’s effectively their debut song.
The decadent, philosophical lyrics were already fully formed at that point.
The music video has a dark, heavy atmosphere, but the track itself is powerful, simple, and light on its feet.
It’s been performed as a staple in their live shows for a long time.
ALMAACIDMAN

This song, noted for its overwhelming sound and melodic beauty, is ACIDMAN’s milestone 20th single and also the title track of their eighth album.
The title “ALMA” refers to the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) located in Chile’s Atacama Desert, a place the band members have actually visited.
The music video was filmed at ALMA and the Uyuni Salt Flats in Bolivia.
Love in both handsACIDMAN

This is the title track of the single released on February 8, 2017.
The music video is ACIDMAN’s first drama-style production.
Hirofumi Arai plays a man who has lost his father, and Renji Ishibashi plays the father.
It’s a song that powerfully evokes the happy times with a loved one who will never return.
Every part was performed and played with a touch that was both gentle and strong.
sonetACIDMAN

ACIDMAN has delivered a song that pulls you into the world of a grand rock ballad.
Its expansive melody, reminiscent of Hokkaido’s great outdoors, sinks deep into the heart.
Centered on the theme of the butterfly effect, it sings of hope and anxiety for the future, and the importance of living true to yourself.
The track will be released as a CD single in January 2025, and it’s also being used as the theme song for the drama Golden Kamuy.
It’s highly recommended to listen while gazing at Hokkaido’s beautiful scenery—there’s no doubt it will soothe your soul.
