String Art: Fireworks Wall Hanging

We’d like to introduce a delicate string art fireworks wall decoration whose impression changes with the combination of threads and how they’re strung.
Cut drawing paper into circles: prepare one base circle, then three circles in large, medium, and small.
Make the base and the large circle the same size.
It’s recommended to use different colors for the large, medium, and small circles.
Mark the points where the thread will be hooked, then glue together the four circular sheets.
Make small cuts at the marked points, and string the thread while adjusting the spacing horizontally.
By varying the sizes of the circles and the thread colors, you can create fireworks with a three-dimensional feel.
Once finished, frame it and enjoy the summer fireworks!
Umbrella sun catcher

Let me introduce a soothing umbrella sun catcher that even adults will want to make.
Gather aurora cut cloth, a plush stand, needle-nose pliers, beads, glue, and double-sided tape, then let’s get started.
Draw eight circles on the aurora cut cloth and cut them out.
Fold each circle in half twice and secure it with double-sided tape.
Make the remaining circle pieces the same way.
Use double-sided tape to attach all eight pieces together to form an umbrella shape.
Thread beads onto a plush stand that has been cut in half using needle-nose pliers, then attach it to the center of the umbrella as the handle—and you’re done.
Beaded accessories

When people hear “beaded accessories,” they often think of children’s toys, but with the right materials and design, you can create pieces perfect for adults! The basic method is simply threading beads onto fishing line (nylon thread), so feel free to make your favorite design.
Here, we introduce how to make a gold-themed floral bracelet.
Keeping the colors subdued and using tiny beads to add delicacy may be the key to giving beaded accessories a sophisticated, grown-up look.
Origami hanging ornament

Introducing an origami hanging decoration that you’ll get so absorbed in making, you’ll lose track of time.
First, take a 15 cm sheet of origami paper and cut it into four equal squares.
Take one of the pieces and fold it into a triangle twice.
Draw two lines parallel to the base of the triangle, spaced 1 cm apart.
On the line closer to the base, make a cut but leave a small margin at the ends; on the other line, cut all the way through to remove that strip.
Repeat the same folding and cutting for the remaining three pieces.
Stack the pieces in pairs with the colored sides facing inward and staple them together.
Glue the left and right corners of the diamond shape on both the front and back to form the parts.
Glue two of these parts together to complete one ornament.
Once the ornament is finished, attach a thread and hang it up to enjoy.
wind chime

When it comes to classic summer crafts, wind chimes might be the first thing that comes to mind.
This one is a papier-mâché wind chime made using a water balloon as the base.
Inflate a water balloon, secure it so it doesn’t move, and apply pieces of washi paper soaked in glue diluted with water.
Tear the washi into small pieces and layer them to cover the surface, but be sure to leave the area around the balloon’s knot open to form the mouth of the chime.
Once the glue dries, pop the balloon and shape the exterior.
Make a small hole at the top, thread a string with a strip (tanzaku) and a small bell, and you’re done.
Try making it with washi in your favorite colors!
Recreating Disney park food!

Perfect for a summer vacation science project! Let’s make a “Little Green Men Squishy.” You know them as popular Disney characters.
These cute and unique Little Green Men can be turned into a squishy with a soft, bouncy feel.
It’s a hands-on craft where you can create a mysterious toy that looks just like the real thing and feels great to squeeze.
All you need are liquid foundation sponges from the 100-yen shop, fast-drying clear glue, and acrylic paint.
Finish a Disney park-style treat that looks real, and enjoy your summer vacation!
Sparkling hourglass

Let’s make a cute, sparkly hourglass that doubles as interior decor.
Prepare two small bottles, glitter to use as sand, a clear plastic file sheet, and decorative parts.
Cut the clear file slightly larger than the bottle opening and make a hole in the center for the glitter to pass through.
Attach tape and half-cover the hole, then glue it to the bottle.
Add the glitter and glue on the other bottle.
Finish it off cutely with decorative parts.
After adding the glitter, be careful not to turn it over until the adhesive has dried.
SDGs car

Why not try making an SDGs car that runs a motor with a solar cell instead of using dry-cell batteries? Simply put, you connect a solar panel to a solar motor, then link the motor to the car’s wheels with a rubber band to transmit power.
When the sun isn’t out, you can make the car move by hand-cranking it, like the battery on a bicycle.
By experimenting with combinations such as the compatibility between the motor and the solar panel, you might be able to build a car that runs even better.
Creating projects like this also helps you think about how power is generated, which is important.
Watermelon tissue box

Let’s make a watermelon-shaped tissue box that’s perfect for summer.
First, take the tissues out of the tissue box.
Turn the box on its side, cut along the side, and split it into two pieces.
Fold one piece down the middle, snip a slit, and bend it to a 90-degree angle.
On the other piece, make a slit as well and attach it to the folded piece.
Put the tissues back in and glue construction paper to the sides.
Create an opening for pulling out the tissues, and finish by applying fabric or paper so it looks like a watermelon.
The rounded, sliced-watermelon-style tissue box is super cute!
Melon Soda Clip

Let me introduce a refreshing and mature-cute melon soda clip.
Prepare a clip, whipped-cream glue, red beads, and deco parts, and let’s get crafting.
Pipe the whipped-cream glue onto the clip.
The key is to pipe it in wavy swirls.
Attach a deco part to a red bead to make a cherry accent, then stick it on.
Put a cap on top and let it dry, and you’re done.
Give this original clip a try!
