Mizuhiki craft

Tying with Heart: First Mizuhiki Craft [1-Minute Digest] (Star)
Mizuhiki craft

We don’t usually pay much attention to mizuhiki, but it’s said to have originated from something like twisted paper cords used to tie the wrapping paper around gifts.

These days, many are simply printed on paper, but at weddings you sometimes see large mizuhiki designs shaped like cranes or turtles.

If you’re good with your hands, why not try making various art pieces or small items with mizuhiki? Beyond attaching them to gifts, you can also use mizuhiki to make earrings and brooches.

There are plenty of tutorial videos on video sites.

Go ahead and create lots of wonderful original mizuhiki pieces!

Cute little doll made of a pine cone

I tried making a cute little doll out of a pine cone.
Cute little doll made of a pine cone

Glue a larger wood bead, which will be the doll’s head, to the bottom of a pine cone.

Insert wire wrapped with jute twine into the pine cone to create arms and legs, then wrap a scarf knitted from yarn around the neck and put on a hat made from jute.

Draw the face with a pen and glue the figure to a base.

Give the doll a dried flower to hold, and it’s complete.

Since jute has a natural color, adding a brightly colored pom-pom to the tip of the hat will make the doll look more festive.

The doll’s impression will also change depending on the expression you draw and how you have it hold the flower.

Let’s try making a pinecone tree!

Christmas is just around the corner! Let’s try making a pinecone tree.
Let's try making a pinecone tree!

Here are some DIY Christmas decoration ideas using pine cones and acorns you can pick up on a walk.

Be sure to sterilize the pine cones and acorns in boiling water before using them.

Paint the pine cones in any colors you like, decorate them with beads, pom-poms, pipe cleaners, and ribbon flowers, then glue them onto a coaster to serve as the base.

Next, color the acorns with markers to make Santa and a reindeer.

For the reindeer’s antlers, cut them out of origami paper with scissors.

Glue Santa and the reindeer onto the base, fill any gaps with cotton, and you’re done!

Snow globe made from an empty bottle

Many people have probably received or bought snow globes as souvenirs or gifts.

Why not try making one with an empty jar? It’s easier than you think, and the result is beautiful and soothing.

All you need is an empty jar, a melamine sponge, liquid laundry starch (or thick laundry glue), small figurines or similar parts, and some glitter.

You can get them cheaply at a 100-yen shop.

First, attach the melamine sponge to the inside of the jar lid, then glue the figurines or other parts onto the sponge.

Put glitter into the jar itself, add laundry starch and water, mix, and screw on the lid—that’s it!

Let me introduce a square bag made with fluffy yarn.

We’ll use clear bag parts sold at 100-yen shops.

The bag parts will serve as the bottom of the bag.

Because they’re transparent, even though we use yarn, the bag still feels cool and airy.

Cut craft mesh, then stitch yarn onto the mesh with a needle so the yarn catches on the grid.

Connect the bag parts and the yarn-stitched mesh together with yarn.

For the handles, use chenille stems (pipe cleaners).

Adding pearls to the stems makes it even cuter.

Finish by attaching ruffles to the edge of the bag with double-sided tape.

It’s a breezy, lovely bag that both adults and kids will want to carry.

This guide shows you how to make soft, cute dolls using pipe cleaners with fluffy fibers attached.

Even though they’re fuzzy, the core is still a pipe cleaner, so you can freely change the shape by bending and twisting to add curves.

Once you shape it like a framework, combine other pipe cleaners there to complete the overall base.

While deciding what pose the doll will take, adjust the angles, then assemble the small parts to create its expression as well.

Mini Gem Spinning Top

Sparkly, jewel-like Nako ☺️ #shorts
Mini Gem Spinning Top

This craft features a colorful, beautiful look with a rotating board decorated with gem stickers and the like.

Attach a stabilizing part—such as the bottom of a plastic bottle—to the center of a thick coaster, then decorate the other side with gem stickers and craft parts.

As you design, imagine how it will look while spinning and add decorations in a balanced way.

Since it doesn’t have a handle, it’s not only fun to use as a spinning top but also makes an attractive decorative piece.
