Angela's famous and popular songs

Let me introduce songs by the male-female duo angela (Angela).

angela was formed in 1993 and made their major debut in 1999.

They returned to the indie scene in 2000, and then made another major debut in 2003.

They have performed many theme songs for anime and have appeared multiple times at Animelo Summer Live (Anisama), an event featuring artists who perform anime songs.

As they mainly work on anime songs, they also perform at overseas events alongside Japanese anime culture, and it seems you can buy their CDs abroad as well.

Angela’s greatest and most popular songs (21–30)

Knight’s Marchangela

The opening theme of the anime Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet Nine.

It’s the sequel to the previous series, depicting the second season’s battles against the Gauna on Planet Nine in the Lem star system.

This song, too, feels like an ode to the Knights of Sidonia—a futuristic march that sends them off and sees them on their way.

Blue Springangela

The ending theme of the anime “Seitokai Yakuindomo.” For the music video, besides the artist and dancers, they reportedly brought in around 200 fans as extras.

It was a rare song for angela, with vocals that sounded like it was being fast-forwarded.

The lyrics, which feel like a simulated experience of a modern high schooler’s daily life, made me laugh at first.

Angela’s best and most popular songs (31–40)

Yes, the summer festival.angela

There’s a song that brilliantly expresses the heat and festive spirit of summer through sound.

Created by angela, this piece features KATSU’s sanshin and powerful Japanese taiko as a backdrop, while atsuko channels summer’s heat with her voice, delivering a track that makes you feel as if you’re right in the middle of a Japanese summer festival.

The lyrics skillfully weave in not only the bustling energy of a festival under the blazing sun, but also phrases that evoke traditional rain-invoking rituals, conjuring a scene where prayers to nature merge with the fervor of the people.

This track is an original new song included on the album “LOVE & CARNIVAL,” released in August 2016, which reached No.

4 on the Oricon charts.

It’s a perfect choice for those seeking live-concert-level intensity and the uniquely moving spirit of a Japanese summer.

promiseangela

It is an image song created to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the TV anime Fafner in the Azure, released in December 2008.

Like “Shangri-La,” the theme song of Fafner, it is sung by angela.

Its highest position on the Oricon chart was 42.

OK! Okayamaangela

As a song featuring Momotaro and ogres, angela’s track stands out.

It’s a local anthem stuffed to the brim with love for Okayama Prefecture, where the Momotaro legend was born.

Included on the album “Welcome!” released in October 2023, the song is a collaboration with comedian Hanawa, resulting in a delightfully humorous piece.

Highly recommended for those who want to hear a track overflowing with hometown pride—it’s the kind of song that makes you rediscover the charms of your hometown just by listening.

A Petal of the Futureangela

A Petal of the Futureangela

A Japanese-style rock ballad with a magnificent sense of spatial spread.

Created by the music duo angela, known for numerous anime theme songs, it was released digitally in 2021.

It serves as the theme song for the feature-length anime The Eternal 831, produced to commemorate WOWOW’s 30th anniversary.

Its beautifully crafted lyrics intertwine the image of falling cherry blossoms with the bittersweet passage of time.

The sound arrangement, with its solemn, oriental atmosphere, is equally captivating.

It’s a song best savored alone, when you can truly listen.

Full Power☆Summer!angela

When it comes to anison that pumps up a summer packed with events, it has to be “Zenryoku Summer!” Released in 2017 by angela, the musical duo formed by atsuko and KATSU, it was used as the opening theme for the anime “AHO-GIRL.” Its speedy, colorful melody line leaves a strong impression.

The upbeat lyrics that evoke the arrival of summer are also a must-check! It’s a catchy, up-tempo tune that energizes every summer scene.

Enjoy a fun time with their humorous vocal performance.
