The season the sun gave usIwahisa Shigeru (Aoi Sankaku Jōgi)

Shigeru Iwaku, who performed as the blue triangle ruler of the folk group, is from Gifu Prefecture.

The song Season Given by the Sun, which was chosen as the theme for the Nippon TV series Fly Out! Youth, became a huge hit, selling over one million copies.

It was later included in music textbooks for elementary and junior high schools.

1950Kume Yoshimasa / Kume Koji (BLACK CATS)

The brothers Yoshimasa Kume (guitar) and Koji (drums), early members of the Japanese rockabilly band BLACK CATS active in the 1980s–90s, are both from Gifu Prefecture.

The song in this video, “1950,” is included on their first album, CREAM-SODA PRESENTS, released in 1981.

Koroshitai KimochiKohhei Matsuda(Bo Ningen)

Kohhei Matsuda, the guitarist of Bo Ningen—an unconventional band that wields hard rock with Japanese lyrics and is based in the UK—hails from Tajimi City in Gifu Prefecture.

Their song “Koroshitai Kimochi (A Feeling of Wanting to Kill)” was their major-label debut in 2009, released as an EP.

Singer-songwriter Yoko Kuzuya is from Hatori City, Gifu Prefecture.

Since 2002, she has been singing ‘Romance o Moo Ichido’ (Romance Once Again), which was used as the commercial song for the Odakyu Romancecar.

The song was released on CD in 2007 and was sold exclusively at locations such as Odakyu Department Store and station kiosks.

Born in 1996, the young singer-songwriter sano ibuki is also an artist from Gifu Prefecture.

In 2017, he won the Fujisonic Award and the CREATIVEMAN Award at the audition event “Deren no!? Summersoni!?” and performed at SUMMER SONIC.

His work is characterized by a wide range of styles, from guitar rock centered on a band sound to pop songs featuring strings.

In addition, his soft and gentle voice is arguably his greatest appeal.

Ayako Ishihara, who performs as an enka singer, is from Ikeda Town, Ibi District, Gifu Prefecture.

She was appointed Hida-Mino Tourism Ambassador in 2007, and in 2012 she performed a solo rendition of the national anthem at the opening ceremony of the Gifu Seiryu National Sports Festival.

With her 12th single, “Miren-zake,” she made her first appearance on NHK’s Kōhaku Uta Gassen.
