As a singer, he released Magic Words in 2012.

His refreshing singing voice captivates listeners and won’t let go.

Both members of the music duo BIIR, Mitsuru Ohashi and Hidetsugu Kawai—active since 1994—are from Ishikawa Prefecture.

They debuted in 1998 with the single “DISTANCE: A Love That Grows Closer from Far Away.” Their fourth single, “Tsubasa,” was chosen as the theme song for the drama The Doctor, drawing significant attention.

After the duo disbanded, Ohashi has been active as a singer-songwriter and as a performer known for impersonating B’z, while Kawai works as a studio musician contributing to J-pop, anime songs, and other projects.

Until NiziU’s MAYA appeared, Niikawa was the only artist from Ishikawa to perform on the Kōhaku Uta Gassen.

He continued singing well into his later years—truly a treasure of Ishikawa.
