God of RomanceHirose Kōmi

Kohmi Hirose is known for her captivating high-tone voice that has never diminished with age—in fact, it keeps evolving.

She was born in Wakayama Prefecture, lived in Osaka until age six, and then grew up in Fukuoka.

Driven by a desire to provide songs to Michael Jackson, she moved to the United States, where a demo tape she produced led to her debut.

She made her debut in 1992 with the album “Bingo!” and went on to release a string of hits including “Romance no Kamisama” and “Gelarende ga Tokeru Hodo Koishitai.” Owing to these winter-themed hits, she earned the nickname “Queen of Winter.” Since launching her YouTube channel in 2019, her videos—where she sings popular songs arranged in her own style—have been drawing significant attention.

Her debut single “STARS,” released in 2001, was chosen as the theme song for the drama “A Love Song Laden with Scars,” in which she also appeared as an actress, allowing her to debut both as a singer and an actress.

“STARS” became a big hit, and she went on to release other popular songs such as “WILL” and “Yuki no Hana.” In the 2005 live-action film adaptation of the hugely popular manga “NANA,” she played the lead role of Nana and, under the name NANA starring MIKA NAKASHIMA, released the rare rock track “GLAMOROUS SKY,” which drew widespread attention.

Imperial Regent Declarationsadamasashi

Masashi Sada is active both as a singer-songwriter and as a novelist.

Born in Nagasaki Prefecture, he began playing the violin at age three and moved to Tokyo in his first year of junior high school.

There, he was captivated by the world of folk music and took up the guitar, setting out on a folk path.

When he temporarily returned to his hometown due to illness, he formed a band called Grape and debuted with “Yuki no Asa” (Snowy Morning).

After the band broke up, he launched his solo career and debuted in 1976 with “Senkō Hanabi” (Sparkler).

He went on to produce major hits such as “Kanpaku Sengen” (The Lord’s Decree) and “From the North Country — Faraway Land.” Alongside his own work, he has also written songs for artists including Momoe Yamaguchi and Ryoko Moriyama.

MONKEY4Gaki Renjā

A hip-hop unit formed in Kyushu’s Kumamoto Prefecture, centered around MCs Pochomukin and YOSHI.

They made their major debut in 2001 and drew significant attention for asserting their presence from Kyushu at a time when Tokyo was still the hub of Japanese rap, becoming known for pioneering a new era.

They’re legends who left a lasting mark in the early days of Japanese rap, with stories like broadcasts being cut off midway due to their provocative lyrics—most notably with their major third single, “MONKEY 4.”
