Me, a little bird, and a bellchihiro
Chihiro expresses the poetic world of children’s poet Misuzu Kaneko through her unique melodies and spoken-word storytelling.
Chihiro hails from Yamaguchi City in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
She ramped up her activities with a CD release commemorative concert in Nagato, Kaneko’s hometown, and has composed music for numerous poems, including “Are You an Echo?” and “Stars and Dandelions.” Her strength as a narrator has been highly regarded—one radio special she appeared in won the Runner-Up Grand Prize at the Japan Broadcasting Culture Awards, among other honors.
In February 2025, she was appointed a “Misuzu Kaneko Ambassador.” There’s even a unique anecdote about miso that is aged while listening to Chihiro’s songs.
More than the words ‘I love you’…Fujishige Masataka
Masataka Fujishige, who works as a singer and actor, is from Iwakuni City in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
He released “Aishiteru nante kotoba yori…” as his debut single, and the title track was used as the opening theme for the TV Asahi drama “Otōsan wa Shinpai-shō” and the ending theme for “Sensei wa Wagamama.”

Yutaka Furukawa is a musician from Yamaguchi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
He formed DOPING PANDA in 1997 and served as the frontman until the band disbanded in 2012, after which he began his solo career in 2013.
Influenced by hard rock such as Led Zeppelin, he has been active as a guitarist, including participating in Base Ball Bear’s tours.
Fans of DOPING PANDA are called “Dopamaniacs,” while fans of Yutaka Furukawa are known as “Yutakamaniacs.” Although he has wide connections with fellow rock musicians, his passionate interview with Gotoh from ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION on CINRA.NET—despite the two reportedly not getting along—is a must-read.
Love! Love! Skip!HKT48 (Murashige Anna · Komori Yui)
HKT48 is an idol group representing Kyushu and a sister group of AKB48.
Among its members, Anna Murashige and former member Yui Komori are from Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Anna Murashige’s mother is Russian, and she’s affectionately known by the nickname “Aanya,” which comes from Russian.
In 2016, drawing on that heritage, she was appointed a Yamaguchi PR Special Envoy for Japan–Russia friendship.
She has an outgoing personality, is full of warmth, and feels very approachable! Yui Komori moved from HKT48 to GALETTe, and is now active in a group called “Tenkou Shoujo Kagekidan” (Transfer Student Girls Song Troupe).
On Instagram, both of them show a stylish, cool side while also brimming with adorable charm.
DAY AFTER DAYBEAT CRUSADERS (Mashita)
Mashita is a native of Shimonoseki City in Yamaguchi Prefecture and the drummer of BEAT CRUSADERS, a band that stayed true to pure rock ’n’ roll.
He also served as the drummer for the former NATSUMEN, a hardcore free jazz band.
After BEAT CRUSADERS disbanded, he has worked as a freelance drummer supporting many artists, including Superfly, Ikimono-gakari, and Huwie Ishizaki, and is also active as a member of God bless you.
His frequently updated, down-to-earth tweets are a must-see!
metropolisMusshu Yoshizaki (Kurisutaru Kingu)
The singer known for the hit “Daitokai,” who sometimes appears on TV under the name Crystal King.
His name is Monsieur Yoshizaki, and although Crystal King was originally a band, after repeated member changes and departures, Crystal King has effectively become his solo project.
Monsieur Yoshizaki is from Shimonoseki in Yamaguchi Prefecture, and while those who only know his recent look may be surprised, his trademark used to be a punch perm.

Asami Imai, who works as a voice actress and singer, is from Tokuyama in Yamaguchi Prefecture, which is now Shunan City.
She made her major debut with her first single, “Day by Day/Shining Blue Rain.” “Day by Day” was used as the ending theme for the Nintendo DS game Kemeko Deluxe! DS: Yome to Meka to Otoko to Onna.
