Speaking of tengu, they are yokai from Japanese folklore, known for their long, protruding noses and red skin, and are also familiar as mountain deities.

They are strongly associated with the color red and with light, agile movement as they freely fly through the sky, so incorporating them into a flag design could highlight a team’s sense of speed.

Because they are often depicted dressed as yamabushi, they are closely connected with mountains, as well as pilgrimage and ascetic training.

Since tengu embody both aspects of a malevolent yokai and a benevolent deity, deciding which facet to emphasize in the design is likely important.
