Green, evoking nature and abundance
Green, which evokes nature and abundance, is also a perfect color for flags.
It’s said to have a calming effect that eases tension.
So it’s recommended for people who might get nervous before competitions.
If you base your design on green, illustrations inspired by mountains or grasslands will create a refreshing atmosphere.
Adding animals to the design can work nicely, too! By the way, the impression changes quite a lot between light green and deep green, so keep that in mind as well.
The color “yellow” with a lively image
Many people want to create banners for sports festivals and athletic meets that feel full of energy.
For that, I recommend a color scheme based on yellow.
Yellow not only conveys energy, but also gives an impression of fun and lightness! As you can tell from its frequent use in road signs, it’s also a color that attracts attention.
When using yellow as the base, it’s best to choose a slightly brighter shade.
Also, be careful when pairing it with black, as that combination can create a sense of danger.
Blue, which evokes calmness and composure
You want the flag’s design to reflect your team’s character and vibe, right? If you want to evoke calmness and composure, using blue as the base is perfect.
Instead of just making the text or background blue, it’s also great to use the sea or the sky as your theme.
Both make it easier to create a design that feels grand and elegant.
For a sea theme, adding sharks or whales can look even cooler; for a sky theme, drawing hawks or falcons works well.
Be sure to discuss it together and come up with a favorite design!
Clean and unexpectedly eye-catching “white”
At many sports festivals, teams are split into red and white, right? The red team has lots of options for flag motifs, but the white team often struggles.
Still, a white flag gives a clean, dignified impression and actually stands out more than you’d expect! Plus, because white is a visually expanding color, it can make the flag look bigger.
For designs, I recommend ones that make the most of white.
For example, you could put a black animal silhouette on a white flag.
There are plenty of other ways to leverage white depending on your ideas.
Noble and impactful “purple”
Red and white are classic flag colors, right? Because of that, they’re also colors that tend to overlap with other teams.
Many of you may want a color scheme that stands out from the rest.
That’s why I recommend purple.
Purple gives off a noble, elegant vibe and creates a strong impact.
When using purple in your palette, be careful not to make it too dark, or text and illustrations can become hard to see.
As a reference, a hydrangea-like shade of purple is just about perfect!
