Easy shaved ice

The summer-filled “Easy Shaved Ice” is an origami idea that even preschoolers can enjoy: with just one sheet of paper, you make both the cup and the ice, then finish by drawing syrup with a pen.

Coloring while imagining your favorite flavors—red for strawberry, green for melon, blue for Blue Hawaii—is a huge hit with kids.

Even with the same shape, each piece shows personality depending on how it’s colored, sparking lively chats like, “What flavor should mine be?” Hang them on the wall and they instantly become a refreshing display! It’s the perfect origami for creating summer memories and expanding children’s imagination.

Easy and cute morning glories

How to Make Summer Flower Origami: Simple and Cute Morning Glory Origami (For Kids!) · Origami Morning Glory
Easy and cute morning glories

Let’s make a summer symbol, the morning glory, with origami.

Fold the paper into a triangle three times.

Prepare scissors and cut the top of the triangle diagonally.

Be careful not to cut the inner triangular section while cutting.

Open the paper and fold the four corners inward along the lines.

Turn the paper over, fold the corners, shape it into a morning glory, and you’re done.

The steps are simple, so give it a try.

Wrapping paper tape to make a vine and decorating it is a lovely touch too.

Perfect for summer! Here are some origami whale ideas.

How about making a whale gliding gracefully through the sea—you can almost hear the splash! Displaying your finished creation in a room will give it a cool, refreshing feel.

What you’ll need: blue-toned origami paper (like light blue), pens or crayons, and construction paper.

It also sounds fun to let your finished whale swim in the ocean you imagine and to draw its expression.

You’ll probably see creations full of the children’s unique touches.

An easy way to fold a whale

Let’s try making one with a single sheet of origami! Here are some easy ideas for folding a whale.

How about creating a whale that swims gracefully through the vast ocean? It’ll be exciting to add facial details with crayons or pens once you’ve finished.

All you need is one sheet of blue-toned origami paper, such as light blue, plus crayons or pens.

If you plan to mount your work on construction paper for display, prepare a sheet of construction paper as well.

It could be fun to have the kids draw the ocean they imagine on the construction paper and then let the finished whale float on it.

Ice cream that can also be used on walls

Perfect for a class of four-year-olds! Here are some ice cream craft ideas that can also be used for wall displays.

When you think of hot summer days, what do children imagine? It might be fun to ask this as an introduction to the activity.

This time, let’s make ice cream that you’d want to eat in summer.

You’ll need one sheet of brown origami paper and crayons or pens.

The key step is folding back the corners on the reverse side to create a rounded ice cream shape.

It’s also fun to use crayons or pens to turn it into your favorite flavor!

Plump goldfish

Why not try making a plump, three-dimensional goldfish? First, fold the origami paper in half, then fold it in half again vertically, and squash-fold it into a triangle.

On one side only, fold up the edge of the triangle to make a square, then fold both ends inward into triangles.

Turn it over and fold the back side differently.

On the back, fold up only one side and glue it firmly.

Blow air through a straw from the side of the fin, and your plump goldfish is complete.

If you make them in various colors, you’ll end up with a very colorful set of goldfish.

Swirly soft-serve ice cream

[Preschool Craft] Summer Craft! Swirly Soft-Serve Ice Cream with Origami | Origami Soft Ice Cream
Swirly soft-serve ice cream

You can make a three-dimensional soft-serve ice cream using origami.

First, let’s make the cone.

For the cone, draw a diagonal curved line on the origami paper as if drawing part of a circle, and cut along the line with scissors.

Draw crisscross lines to mimic a waffle cone, roll it into a cone shape, and secure it with clear tape.

For the soft-serve part, fold the origami paper in half twice.

When you have a small square, perform a squash fold to open it up.

Fold the opened piece in half, then twist it sideways as if rolling it.

Open it layer by layer and secure with tape, place it inside the waffle cone, and you’re done.
