Origami Whale

Perfect for summer! Here are some origami whale ideas.
How about making a whale gliding gracefully through the sea—you can almost hear the splash! Displaying your finished creation in a room will give it a cool, refreshing feel.
What you’ll need: blue-toned origami paper (like light blue), pens or crayons, and construction paper.
It also sounds fun to let your finished whale swim in the ocean you imagine and to draw its expression.
You’ll probably see creations full of the children’s unique touches.
An easy way to fold a whale

Let’s try making one with a single sheet of origami! Here are some easy ideas for folding a whale.
How about creating a whale that swims gracefully through the vast ocean? It’ll be exciting to add facial details with crayons or pens once you’ve finished.
All you need is one sheet of blue-toned origami paper, such as light blue, plus crayons or pens.
If you plan to mount your work on construction paper for display, prepare a sheet of construction paper as well.
It could be fun to have the kids draw the ocean they imagine on the construction paper and then let the finished whale float on it.

Ice cream that can also be used on walls

Perfect for a class of four-year-olds! Here are some ice cream craft ideas that can also be used for wall displays.
When you think of hot summer days, what do children imagine? It might be fun to ask this as an introduction to the activity.
This time, let’s make ice cream that you’d want to eat in summer.
You’ll need one sheet of brown origami paper and crayons or pens.
The key step is folding back the corners on the reverse side to create a rounded ice cream shape.
It’s also fun to use crayons or pens to turn it into your favorite flavor!

@sachimama_asobi Perfect for summer! Let’s make some adorable puffy goldfish 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 Has everyone been to any festivals yet this year?? I’m planning to go to my local festival this weekend 🥰 I’m so happy festivals are back 🩷 Lately, I feel like I don’t see goldfish scooping at stalls as much—how about in your area? For now, I’m going to get a head start and play goldfish scooping with origami with the kids! Why not try making a plump, three-dimensional goldfish? First, fold the origami paper in half, then fold it in half again vertically, and squash-fold it into a triangle.
On one side only, fold up the edge of the triangle to make a square, then fold both ends inward into triangles.
Turn it over and fold the back side differently.
On the back, fold up only one side and glue it firmly.
Blow air through a straw from the side of the fin, and your plump goldfish is complete.
If you make them in various colors, you’ll end up with a very colorful set of goldfish.
Swirly soft-serve ice cream

You can make a three-dimensional soft-serve ice cream using origami.
First, let’s make the cone.
For the cone, draw a diagonal curved line on the origami paper as if drawing part of a circle, and cut along the line with scissors.
Draw crisscross lines to mimic a waffle cone, roll it into a cone shape, and secure it with clear tape.
For the soft-serve part, fold the origami paper in half twice.
When you have a small square, perform a squash fold to open it up.
Fold the opened piece in half, then twist it sideways as if rolling it.
Open it layer by layer and secure with tape, place it inside the waffle cone, and you’re done.
Ghost busting with a water gun

Games where you shoot something down with a water gun are always exciting, right? If you play a game where you shoot down ghosts, it could really bring out the summer spirit and be a lot of fun.
Draw ghost illustrations and use newspaper or calligraphy paper to make something like a string, then hang them from a rope.
It’s easy if you clip them on with clothespins.
Aim for the string part and shoot it down with your water gun.
This way, even kids who are scared of ghosts might enjoy themselves while defeating them!
Drawing with ice

In summer, it’s best to keep even your playtime cool, right? So let’s try drawing with ice! You might wonder, “Can you really draw with ice?” but it’s actually very easy.
First, squeeze small amounts of your favorite watercolor paints into the compartments of an ice tray, then add water on top and mix to dissolve.
Cover the tray with aluminum foil, and insert straws through the foil into each paint-water compartment to create handles for holding the ice.
Freeze it, and your ice paints are ready! Use the colored ice to draw whatever you like.
You’ll be able to create artwork that feels wonderfully cool and refreshing.
