Cat songs that resonate with many feelings. A diverse variety of cat tunes (1–10)
I want to become a cat.supittsu

It’s a beloved fan favorite, and surely many people have heard it before.
It was included on the album “Kachōfūgetsu” as the B-side to the 1994 single “Aoi Kuruma.” There’s even an anecdote that the “Aoi Kuruma” cover art uses a cat motif because this song was a contender for the title track right up until just before release.
It’s a number that captures a faint touch of loneliness amid gentle, sunny weather, and its quintessential Spitz melody wraps you in a comforting sense of ease.
While it conveys the feelings of a cat, it may also express a desire to lean on a lover.
Masamune’s characteristically deep lyrics really set your imagination running, don’t they? It’s a classic you find yourself craving on a lazy weekend morning.
Flying catSchroeder-Headz feat. Ōnuki Taeko

Like a cat whimsically darting about, Sky-Flying Cat leaves a playful melody lingering in your ears.
Schroeder-Headz, the solo project of keyboardist Shunsuke Watanabe, features singer-songwriter Taeko Onuki on this track.
It was chosen as the ending theme for WOWOW’s original drama Pension Metza.
The song embodies the feeling that, although the free lifestyle we once had was lost due to the pandemic, our hearts should remain free.
That inner freedom is likened to a cat’s capricious nature and love of liberty.
It’s the kind of song that seems to gently ease the tension in your heart as you listen.
A balloon for a catOtsuka Ai

This is Ai Otsuka’s ninth single, released in 2005.
It’s a ballad whose lyrics, written from a cat’s perspective and depicting a resilient way of life, have encouraged many listeners.
Incidentally, Ai Otsuka likes cats but is allergic to them.
Perhaps that’s why she feels such a strong attachment to this song.

I want to become a cat.IZ*ONE

A mid-tempo number that portrays a longing for the way cats live.
It’s a classic track included as the Type B coupling song on IZ*ONE’s Japanese debut single “Suki to Iwasetai.” The slightly fleeting melody also has a really nice vibe.
In the cramped routine of everyday life, the lyrics feel like they’re right there with your emotions and make you think how easy it would be if you could live as freely and whimsically as a cat.
The supple, cat-like choreography is another highlight, overlapping with the members’ cute charm, making it a song you can enjoy from both angles.
There’s also a Korean version included on the Korean second mini-album “HEART*IZ,” newly reborn through an adaptation by member Minju—so be sure to enjoy comparing the differences.
NEKOSAMAKyūso Nekokami

Kyusonekokami’s “NEKOSAMA” opens with lyrics that feel grand and almost historical or literary.
Even the title, with the honorific “sama” attached to “neko” (cat), hints at something deeper.
The song is one track from Kyuso’s first major-label full-length album, “Jinsei wa Mada Mada Tsuzuku,” released in 2015.
Along the way, there are moments where you might think, “Are they dissing cats a bit?” But for cat lovers, it’s full of relatable ‘cat-isms’ that will make you smile and say, “So true.” It’s a song for people who are completely obsessed with cats.
cataiko

Cats somehow have a feminine, mischievous-little-devil kind of image, don’t they? This song, “Neko” by aiko, is a number packed with the inner feelings of a woman and her emotions toward her lover.
It’s one of the tracks included as a B-side to aiko’s 15th single “Kaban,” released in 2004.
The lively piano melody in the intro also somehow evokes a cat with a cheeky, devilish vibe.
It’s a love song that carries a subtly mature scent, as if to say, “You probably haven’t noticed, but…”
Tango of the Black CatMinagawa Osamu

Kuro Neko no Tango is a song that compares a lover to a black cat, capturing the feelings of a protagonist who’s at the mercy of his capricious girlfriend.
Perhaps it’s a tango because he’s being led around by the black cat.
It was the debut single of former child actor Osamu Minagawa.
He wore a black cat costume and sang with such innocent charm—he was absolutely adorable.
The mismatch between his youthful voice and the mature lyrics is exquisite, making you want to listen again and again.
Try focusing on the lyrics next time you hear it! You’ll see the pitiful figure of a man being toyed with by a beautiful, cat-like woman.
