Which of the following is effective when scissors become dull?
- Cutting aluminum foil
- apply glue stick
- wet with water
See the answer
Cutting aluminum foil
If you keep using the same scissors, their cutting performance will gradually deteriorate. Dull scissors not only slow down your work, but they can also be dangerous. In such cases, try cutting a crumpled piece of aluminum foil with the scissors! The blades of dull scissors have tiny chips, but cutting aluminum foil helps fill in those chipped areas, restoring their sharpness.

What should you do when eating ice cream or shaved ice gives you a brain freeze?
- Drink a little warm beverage
- cool the forehead
- Stop eating cold things
See the answer
cool the forehead
Everyone has probably experienced that sharp, ice-cream headache while eating ice cream or shaved ice! This happens because the sudden cooling in your mouth increases blood flow and causes blood vessels to dilate, and because nerves in the throat get stimulated. Cooling your forehead can help constrict those dilated vessels, and the added sensation can ease the sharp pain. Try pressing the ice cream or shaved ice container directly against your forehead.
Where is the seat on the bus where you’re least likely to get motion sickness?
- front seat
- the middle seat
- the back seat
See the answer
the middle seat
On field trips and the like, you often travel by bus, right? But for people who get motion sick, that time can be rough. That’s why I want to share which seats are less likely to make you carsick. In fact, there are seats on a bus that tend to cause less motion sickness—around the middle of the vehicle. Seats near the middle aren’t directly over the tires, so there’s less vibration, making motion sickness less likely.
Which of the following is said to be effective for maintaining concentration when studying?
- Study for 25 minutes, then take a 5-minute break
- Study for 30 minutes, take a 10-minute break.
- Study for 1 hour, then take a 15-minute break.
See the answer
Study for 25 minutes, then take a 5-minute break
You can’t really use this method during classes at school, but it’s a great one for homework. It’s called the Pomodoro Technique, where you repeat a cycle of studying for 25 minutes and then taking a 5-minute break. Give it a try when you feel like you can’t concentrate very well while studying at home.
