Halloween Party

In recent years, Halloween has been growing in popularity in Japan as well! Since anyone can casually enjoy dressing up, chances are that both kids and adults have taken part in a Halloween party at least once.
Of course, it’s also a great idea for a neighborhood kids’ event.
On the day, let children, adults, and organizers alike have fun in whatever costumes they like! You can also get creative—set up a runway for a fashion show-style costume parade, hand out treats, take commemorative photos, and more—to make it an event everyone can enjoy.
Rock-Paper-Scissors TrainNEW!

It’s a game where you play rock-paper-scissors with someone nearby, and the loser lines up behind the winner to form a train.
The person who never loses rock-paper-scissors gets to lead the long train at the end! In this game, music is played by default, and when the music stops, you play rock-paper-scissors.
As long as you can play rock-paper-scissors, you can enjoy the game, so any elementary school student can join.
The rules are simple, but it gets surprisingly exciting, so it’s recommended when you want to enjoy a game with a large group!
Silhouette QuizNEW!

This is a quiz where you look only at a silhouette and answer what it is.
If it’s something with a distinctive shape, like a banana, it’s easier to arrive at the answer.
However, items with simple shapes, like apples or mandarins, tend to be more challenging.
For elementary school students, why not have fun with familiar items they often use at school, such as pencils or pencil cases? If the answer doesn’t come easily, give them a hint.
You can prepare the silhouettes on paper beforehand, or you can create shadows on the day using a white cloth and a light.

festival food stall

Kids love the food stalls at festival night markets, don’t they? How about making your own stalls and turning it into a pretend festival at home? You can cook foods like yakisoba and frankfurters on an electric griddle, and items you can prepare in advance—like octopus rice crackers (takosen) or chocolate-dipped bananas—are great too.
Ring toss and lottery draws with prizes will delight the kids and liven things up.
Wearing happi coats, and having the kids wear yukata, will really boost the festive mood.
Bingo game

When it comes to party games and recreational activities, you can’t leave out bingo, right? Not too long ago, you had to go to a toy store to buy bingo cards and prepare a big bingo machine—it took some effort to set everything up.
But these days, you can get bingo cards at 100-yen shops, and you don’t even need a machine since there are smartphone apps.
When prizes are on the line, both adults and kids get excited, don’t they? (lol) Try going a bit over the top—make your reactions big and put on a flashy show!
Dodgeball Tournament

If you want to really play hard outside, how about trying dodgeball? It’s a classic activity for elementary school recreation, and it’s great because everyone can enjoy it even with a large group.
I did say “outside,” but if you play in a gym, you can have fun indoors without worrying about the weather.
If kids of different ages are playing together, having the older ones take the lead, cooperate, and occasionally reshuffle teams can help deepen communication.
barbecue

Food always tastes extra delicious when you eat it outdoors, doesn’t it? So let’s get everyone excited with a barbecue that kids and adults alike will love! While many people picture doing it by the beach or a riverbank, for a kids’ club barbecue, keep it close to home and make it easy by using a large open space nearby.
If you portion out meat and vegetables onto individual plates and have everyone grill their own, it becomes a simple way for everyone to enjoy it together all at once.
Even kids with picky tastes might find themselves eating foods they don’t usually like when they’re chatting and having fun with everyone!
