Recreation Activities That Excite Kids’ Clubs! Plans and Ideas Kids Will Love (11–20)
Cotton candy making

Let’s make big, fluffy cotton candy that kids love! Cotton candy is a staple at summer festivals and night stalls, and recently the colorful, jumbo varieties have become popular among young people.
It looks great in photos, making it perfect for kids’ events—and of course, it’s delicious to eat.
You can even buy cotton candy machines in the toy section, or rent one just for the day.
With just granulated rock sugar and wooden skewers, you can make cotton candy.
How about preparing an assortment of colorful sugars and giving it a try?
Drop the Handkerchief

Handkerchief Drop is on its way to becoming a traditional Japanese game.
It’s simple, yet somehow exciting and great fun.
Choose one person to be “it,” and have everyone else sit facing inward in a circle.
The person who is “it” walks around behind the circle and secretly drops a handkerchief behind someone.
The person who has the handkerchief dropped behind them picks it up and chases “it.” If “it” manages to sit down in the spot of the person who was dropped on before being caught, “it” wins.
If the person doesn’t notice the drop and “it” completes a full lap and tags them, that person becomes the next “it.”
Target shooting

Shooting games at children’s clubs make for a fun activity that offers a fresh experience.
Despite the simple setup, the tension of aiming and the sense of accomplishment when you hit the target are part of the appeal.
If you incorporate variations using balloons, the sight of colorful balloons flying around will surely fill the kids’ faces with smiles.
Winning prizes would make it even more exciting.
Sparkling targets and balloons add a festive touch to the venue.
Because target shooting can be enjoyed by a wide range of ages, it’s likely to provide a fun time that brings everyone together.
Why not include it in your children’s club event?
Treasure Hunt

Just hearing the words “treasure hunt” is enough to make many people feel a little excited, isn’t it? This activity involves searching for treasures placed inside capsules buried in the sand.
Depending on the location, you can also hide them in a forest, in a plaza, or even inside a school building.
Whatever the items are, there’s a sense of fun and joy in discovering a treasure.
It’s best for teachers, guardians, or the recreation staff to hide the treasures in advance.
How many can you find?
Quiz tournament

A quiz tournament that’s sure to get everyone excited at the kids’ club event! Prepare a wide variety of questions, from general knowledge to riddles.
If you make it a team competition, everyone can enjoy it together without worrying about age differences.
Interactive quizzes using images and videos are also recommended, as they capture children’s interest.
Have small prizes ready for those who answer correctly to boost motivation! Use playful quizzes to make your kids’ club even more fun.
It’s a perfect plan for creating wonderful memories that will put smiles on everyone’s faces.
Group Shiritori

This is a game where teams cooperate to play a simple version of shiritori, connecting words one after another.
The team speaks the words together in rhythm, and while one team is saying the word, the next team discusses which word to connect.
If everyone’s voices don’t align, that team loses, so the key to winning is how smoothly the team can share words and work together.
It’s also recommended to ramp up the tempo of the words to evolve the game into a mode that demands faster sharing of words and smoother discussions.
Puzzle-solving game

If you have a large area to play in, how about trying a scavenger-style puzzle game? Puzzles are set up in various spots around the grounds.
Using a map, players search for the puzzle locations and solve them as they make their way to the goal.
It’s even more exciting if there’s a treasure chest or some kind of prize waiting at the finish.
Since this is for a children’s group, there will likely be a wide range of ages, but you can make it accessible to everyone with easy-to-understand tasks, like fill-in-the-blank questions, quizzes, or riddles.
You can also play it indoors, so there’s no need to worry about the weather.
test of courage

On a summer night, a “test of courage” would really liven things up, wouldn’t it? Didn’t you all do that when you were kids? You go along a set course in groups aiming for the goal, but along the way there are all kinds of traps, scary ghosts and zombies that make you scream, and hidden surprises.
If you play eerie background music, it gets even more exciting and you can really feel chills down your spine.
Just be careful not to make it too scary so it doesn’t traumatize the kids (lol).
Water Gun Battle

This is a game where players split into teams and have water-gun battles, aiming to eliminate members of the opposing team.
Participants wear a scooping paper (poi) used for goldfish scooping on top of their heads, trying to avoid water so it doesn’t get soaked and tear, while attempting to break the opponents’ poi.
To keep the game safe and smooth, players should wear goggles to prevent water from getting in their eyes, and there should be monitoring to ensure anyone whose poi breaks immediately leaves the field.
Adding obstacles to hide behind and other variations can boost excitement by introducing more strategy and mind games.
Silhouette Quiz

This is a quiz where you look only at a silhouette and answer what it is.
If it’s something with a distinctive shape, like a banana, it’s easier to arrive at the answer.
However, items with simple shapes, like apples or mandarins, tend to be more challenging.
For elementary school students, why not have fun with familiar items they often use at school, such as pencils or pencil cases? If the answer doesn’t come easily, give them a hint.
You can prepare the silhouettes on paper beforehand, or you can create shadows on the day using a white cloth and a light.
