Puzzle-solving game

If you have a large area to play in, how about trying a scavenger-style puzzle game? Puzzles are set up in various spots around the grounds.
Using a map, players search for the puzzle locations and solve them as they make their way to the goal.
It’s even more exciting if there’s a treasure chest or some kind of prize waiting at the finish.
Since this is for a children’s group, there will likely be a wide range of ages, but you can make it accessible to everyone with easy-to-understand tasks, like fill-in-the-blank questions, quizzes, or riddles.
You can also play it indoors, so there’s no need to worry about the weather.
Water Gun Battle

This is a game where players split into teams and have water-gun battles, aiming to eliminate members of the opposing team.
Participants wear a scooping paper (poi) used for goldfish scooping on top of their heads, trying to avoid water so it doesn’t get soaked and tear, while attempting to break the opponents’ poi.
To keep the game safe and smooth, players should wear goggles to prevent water from getting in their eyes, and there should be monitoring to ensure anyone whose poi breaks immediately leaves the field.
Adding obstacles to hide behind and other variations can boost excitement by introducing more strategy and mind games.
Group Shiritori

This is a game where teams cooperate to play a simple version of shiritori, connecting words one after another.
The team speaks the words together in rhythm, and while one team is saying the word, the next team discusses which word to connect.
If everyone’s voices don’t align, that team loses, so the key to winning is how smoothly the team can share words and work together.
It’s also recommended to ramp up the tempo of the words to evolve the game into a mode that demands faster sharing of words and smoother discussions.
test of courage

On a summer night, a “test of courage” would really liven things up, wouldn’t it? Didn’t you all do that when you were kids? You go along a set course in groups aiming for the goal, but along the way there are all kinds of traps, scary ghosts and zombies that make you scream, and hidden surprises.
If you play eerie background music, it gets even more exciting and you can really feel chills down your spine.
Just be careful not to make it too scary so it doesn’t traumatize the kids (lol).
Kappa Plate Ball-Carrying Race

It’s also great to use paper plates at the party venue for an obstacle-course-style game! If you’ve got a large space, the excitement doubles.
Balance a paper plate on your head, hold it in place with your hands, and put a ping-pong ball on top.
The winner is the person who finishes with the most ping-pong balls still on their plate after clearing all the obstacles.
Simple obstacles made from tables and chairs are plenty.
Even just doing one lap around the venue along the walls works well.
You can customize the obstacles in many ways—like greeting the department head or playing rock-paper-scissors with a junior colleague.
Don’t forget to prepare classic sports day-style background music to play during the game!
Musical chairs

Musical chairs is a classic game that everyone knows, yet it stays thrilling and fun no matter how many times you play.
Moving your body to the music and then, the moment the music stops, searching for an empty chair and sitting down helps build concentration and agility, and it even has elements of eurhythmics.
By teaching children not to push friends or force their way into a seat, they learn to follow rules, making this a recommended recreation for lower elementary grades.
Adding variety—like removing several chairs at once—also makes it more exciting.

Mayim Mayim

The recreation that’s hugely popular at children’s clubs is “Mayim Mayim.” This folk dance, with its simple steps that anyone can enjoy, is a perfect chance to build communication.
Just hold hands and dance in a circle, and smiles naturally spread.
It’s great for mixed-age groups because both adults and kids can have fun together.
It’s exciting both indoors and outdoors, so you don’t have to worry about the venue.
Try incorporating it into festivals, school culture events, campfires, and more.
Let everyone experience the joy of moving to the music together.
