snack bag

Turn snacks into a memorable gift! Tape together store-bought snacks to make a bag.
Prepare snacks that come in small pouches or individual wrappers, such as hanging types.
You’ll make three parts: the box that forms the bag body, the lid, and the strap.
Create the box and lid using your favorite snack bags, matching their sizes as you go.
For the strap, fill a rolled, tube-shaped piece of clear film with individually wrapped candies, tying ribbons or similar between each candy.
When you give the gift, be sure to fill the inside of the bag with snacks, too!
candle

Let’s make original candles using materials from a 100-yen shop.
Choose simple stick candles, break them, and separate the wax from the wick.
Melt an amount of wax equal to the volume of your mold.
Poke a hole in the center of the bottom of the mold with an awl, thread the wick through, and pull it out the top of the mold, keeping it upright and fixed in place.
Clamping it with chopsticks works well.
Once the mold is prepared, pour in the melted wax, and when it cools and hardens, it’s done! If you want to add color to the wax, mix in small amounts of shaved crayon.
Using essential oils to add fragrance is also recommended.
scrunchie

A scrunchie is not only cute as a hair accessory but also on your wrist, and it’s an easy handmade gift.
You only need two things: a 10 cm × 50 cm piece of fabric and a hair elastic.
First, with right sides together, fold the fabric in half so the 10 cm edges align.
Sew along the overlapped edge in a straight line to make a tube, then press the seam open with an iron.
Lay the fabric with the seam centered, fold the top layer into thirds, and then fold the bottom layer in half to wrap around that section.
From there, while pulling out the folded fabric as you go, leave an opening for turning and sew the folded edges together.
Once sewn, turn the fabric right-side out through the opening, thread the elastic through, then close the opening to finish.

tote bag

Perfect for sewing beginners! This tote bag is made simply by sewing straight lines with a sewing machine.
Prepare two pieces each of outer fabric and lining fabric in the same size, plus two pieces for the handles.
Fold the handle pieces to your preferred width while pressing with an iron, then sew them.
Make two sets by sandwiching the handles between the outer and lining fabrics and sewing them together.
Open these two sets and place them right sides together.
Leave an opening for turning, sew all the way around, then sew diagonally across the corners to create boxed corners.
Trim off the excess corners outside the seam as they’re not needed.
Turn the bag right side out through the opening, sew the opening closed, and you’re done!
Herbarium ballpoint pen

If you’re looking for an eye-catching gift that can be used every day, how about a herbarium ballpoint pen? You can buy craft ballpoint pens at 100-yen shops, and with just the filling materials and herbarium oil, anyone can make one easily.
First, decide on the design you want and gather parts that fit the size of the pen.
Classic parts include sequins, holograms, beads, and alphabet stickers.
Note that you can’t use fresh flowers, rubber items, or metal.
desk calendar

A calendar that can be used throughout the year makes a great gift as a keepsake.
In this idea, you cut thick paper into tag shapes and decorate them by attaching origami paper and date sheets.
You can choose seasonal patterns for the design, but using memorable photos would also be lovely.
Create a front and back cover, gather everything with a binder ring, and finish it as a calendar.
Punch a hole at the bottom of the back cover and attach a string with a paper clip.
By flipping the front cover to the back and securing it with the paper clip, the calendar can stand on its own.
Homemade Cookies

You want to give sweets, but store-bought ones feel a bit… well, how about making cookies from scratch? This is a beginner-friendly recipe, and with simple steps you’ll have delicious cookies ready in no time.
First, mix 120 g of flour and 30 g of sugar together in a bag.
Then melt 60 g of butter in the microwave and add it to the bag, kneading well to form the dough.
Roll the dough out to about 5 mm thick, cut out shapes, and arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake in an oven preheated to 170°C for 20 minutes, and you’re done! Adjust the baking time based on how browned they look.
