coaster

Coasters for placing glasses and cups are the kind of thing you can never have too many of, making them an easy gift.
As long as you make sure the surface is flat enough to hold a glass, they’re also easy to DIY.
You can think of all sorts of variations—like cutting thin cork board into circles and adding a design, or attaching glass tiles.
It might be fun to create a design that includes a school name, a person’s name, or a message in text.
If you use materials that resist stains and are easy to wash, the recipient will likely be able to use them for even longer.
tissue case

Boxed tissues are something we all use every day.
Since the box by itself can look a bit plain, many people put a cover over it.
How about making such a cover yourself and giving it as a gift? The key point is how the fabric overlaps where the tissues are pulled out; once you get that right, you just shape the fabric to drape over the tissues.
You can make a cover that slips over the original box, but if you use thicker fabric and finish it like a bag, you can also create a tissue case without a box.
With that boxless type, it gains a unique softness that can add a touch of charm to everyday life.
balloon flower

Balloons are perfect for celebrations and parties, so they’re also great as handmade graduation gifts! Let me introduce “balloon flowers,” where spring-like floral materials are sealed inside a latex balloon.
Since you can use supplies mostly from 100-yen shops, they’re surprisingly easy to make.
Using a tool made by cutting the mouth of a plastic bottle, you can insert your favorite flowers into the balloon.
You’ll put the flowers in while the balloon is not inflated, which can be a bit tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be fine! Just add air at the end and you’ll have an adorable gift.
Try making one while picturing the happy face of the person who’ll receive it!
Puzzle-style keychain

“Even after we graduate, our bond is forever.” With that feeling in mind, why not make puzzle-style keychains? Prepare a thin shrink plastic sheet and sketch a puzzle design on it.
Since shrink plastic shrinks to about a quarter of its original size when heated, be mindful of your initial drawing size.
Next, cut along the lines with scissors, write names or messages in the center, and apply heat.
Finally, coat the top with resin and cure it, and you’ll have an adorable keychain with a puffy, raised look.
mug

If you want to give a practical gift that anyone would be happy to receive, how about a handmade mug? You could make one from clay with pottery, of course, but if you’d like something a bit easier, we recommend hand-drawing the design.
Get a plain, oven-safe mug and use special pens that bake on to draw portraits of a teacher or friends, favorite illustrations, or messages.
Then just heat it at the specified temperature for the specified time, and it’s done!
