Christmas tree lacing

Here’s a Christmas tree craft idea that kids can enjoy while practicing lacing.
For preparation, cut out a Christmas tree and ornaments from construction paper.
Since you’ll be threading pipe cleaners through both, punch holes in them beforehand.
First, thread one end of a pipe cleaner through the tree and secure it so it won’t slip out.
Then, let the children choose their favorite ornaments and thread them onto the pipe cleaner.
Once several are on, secure the other end of the pipe cleaner to finish.
Prepare ornaments with various motifs to create a lovely Christmas tree!

Cut colored construction paper to create a Christmas tree, then let the children decorate it with round and star-shaped stickers.
You can also hand-make the star stickers by cutting gold origami paper! It would be fun to prepare a variety of colorful round stickers, glittery stickers, and even puffy or three-dimensional stickers.

Materials: plastic cups, colored construction paper cut into circles, decorative pom-poms, tissue paper, cellophane tape, and double-sided tape.
First, tear the tissue paper by hand, crumple it into balls, and put them inside the plastic cup.
Cover the opening with a circle of colored paper and secure it with tape.
Put decorative pom-poms inside the cup, and stick another circle of colored paper on the outside.
Finally, attach a star to the top with double-sided tape, and it’s complete!
Wreath made with crumpled tissue paper
A Christmas wreath themed on the Adventskranz, where a candle is lit each Sunday for the four weeks before Christmas.
Attach crumpled tissue paper onto a paper plate with the center cut out.
Let the children practice crumpling the paper themselves.
Next, decorate with round pom-poms, then add illustrations of candles in the middle to finish.
It’s great as a decoration for doors or walls at Christmas, and it’s also recommended for childcare settings with two-year-olds to encourage fine motor movement.

Here’s a perfect craft idea for anyone unsure about what to make for Christmas.
Prepare a pre-sketched reindeer face and have children glue on torn pieces of origami paper.
The key point is to use your child’s handprints to create the reindeer’s antlers.
Finish by adding the eyes and red nose with round stickers or felt-tip pens.
Finger-stamping around the picture is a cute optional touch.
Tearing and sticking are activities that even two-year-olds can enjoy, so be sure to make it together and get into the Christmas spirit!
A torn-paper collage wreath and an origami Santa
As children grow into the preschool years, they can start thinking for themselves about how to arrange colors and patterns, even with simple tearing-and-pasting activities.
Why not make a wreath that puts that thinking power to use? For preparation, lightly mark a wreath shape on white construction paper with a pencil.
Let the children freely tear origami paper and paste the pieces with glue, using the penciled outline as a guide.
To create a lively wreath, it’s best to provide patterned origami paper.
Finally, glue a ribbon on top of the wreath and add a Santa made from origami to finish it off.

A baby experiencing their very first Christmas.
It would be wonderful if they can feel the festive atmosphere through the activities.
For this reindeer craft, prepare a paper plate with double-sided tape attached and some craft paper.
If you take the children’s handprints in advance and let them dry, things will go smoothly on the day.
The step of crumpling the craft paper is recommended—it lets them enjoy the sound of the paper rubbing and the fun of seeing the shapes change.
Handprints also make a great record of growth, so once it’s finished, be sure to display it and enjoy!
