wrapJoiman

Joyman does laid-back rap bits with a slight sting.
The rhythm and tone layered onto Takagi-san’s unique moves are comical and seem perfect for tickling an elementary schooler’s laugh switch! It’s really fun to pick different themes—like Sengoku warlords—and riff freely back and forth.
If you can, dropping rhymes or using similar sounds might make people go, “Whoa!” and give you extra respect.
It’s a relaxed, low-pressure kind of comedy play.
Exaggerate your movements and just have fun with it!
Boru Juku

There are three members on TV right now, but Borujuku is actually a quartet of four acts.
The members are Haruka, who leads the manzai routine; Anri, the tsukkomi (straight man); Tanabe, the boke (funny one); and Sakayori, who is currently on maternity leave.
Among them, Tanabe’s signature line “Maa ne~” was even nominated for the 2020 Buzzword of the Year Awards, and it’s a surefire gag.
Even when someone says something unfavorable to her, if she spins it positively and says “Maa ne~,” it brings the house down.
Borujuku also has short skits, so if we’re going to do impressions, it’d be great to gather three people and give it a try.
Zero-calorie theory

A gag that originated from the hugely popular late-night show “Ame Talk!” Comedians like Kosugi from Black Mayonnaise and Date from Sandwichman were scolded for overeating, and they snapped back with the line, “If you do XX, the calories become zero, right?”—which is how the gag started.
For example: “If you eat ice cream on the Shinkansen, the calories become zero because of the train’s speed.” Also, Sandwichman appears in a Peyoung (instant yakisoba) commercial, and Date’s line, “When you drain the hot water from Peyoung, the calories get washed away too, right?” is absolutely the best!
Peekaboo-san

Hyokkori-han actually graduated from Waseda University.
This impression just involves popping out from various places, so if you wear mushroom-cut hair and glasses and come up with creative situations to pop out, it’ll look pretty authentic and be very easy to imitate.
Just adding some background music should help set the mood, don’t you think?
FUJIWARA Hara-Nishi’s gag

Takayuki Haranishi, the “boke” (funny man) of the comedy duo FUJIWARA.
His gags are all easy to perform at parties and weddings.
For example, there’s a gag where he pretends he’s about to greet everyone in Japanese but then greets them in Chinese instead—perfect as an opener or for a speech.
Most of his gags only take about five seconds, which makes them easy to roll out.
If you keep performing them one after another, people can enjoy themselves without any lull.
First, check out a bunch of his gags and pick the ones you like!
Dandy Sakano

When you hear “Get’s!” you think of this guy! Dandy Sakano sparked a huge craze with that one catchphrase.
Dressed in flashy yellow and doing monologues reminiscent of stand-up comedy.
If a man is performing solo, trying a Dandy Sakano impression is recommended.
It’s got a slightly American, kinda corny vibe, but even if you flop, you can smooth it all over with a big “Get’s!” (lol).
You can copy his routine as-is, but it’ll get even livelier if you sprinkle in some inside jokes specific to your group.
Counselor of State

The leading act of rough-around-the-edges manzai that Ohta Pro is proud of, Nagon’s routine is easier to imitate than you’d think.
If you capture Abe’s deadpan tsukkomi and Usayuki’s constant urge to smoke, all that’s left is to humorously talk about the seedy parts of town everyone knows.
Usayuki is often pictured in a leather riders jacket, so if you can prepare one, definitely do.
metal bat

Since they’re an easy-to-understand duo with one having a buzz cut and the other long hair, the visual barrier should be low.
Both members of Metal Bat are from Sakai City in Osaka; they graduated from the same high school, enrolled in Yoshimoto’s Osaka NSC, and formed a duo.
If you can capture their chemistry and speak solid Kansai dialect, you could probably pull off a fairly well-received impression.
Nora Hirano

Speaking of Nora Hirano, her striking image brings to mind the bubble era: a red suit and long, crimped hair.
She’s become so iconic that her outfit is even sold as party goods now.
So! If you’re planning a performance and thinking of doing an impression, why not try imitating her? Just carry a shoulder phone and crack some bubble-era jokes, and you’re sure to get laughs! Her makeup is unique too, so try recreating that as well.
Not only women—men doing the impression on purpose might be hilarious, too!
Naomi Watanabe
Naomi Watanabe, a popular personality known for her powerful energy that always lifts us up.
These days she’s active not only in Japan but around the world.
If you were to copy Naomi Watanabe, wouldn’t it have to be her Beyoncé impression? Or rather, it would be an impression of Beyoncé via Naomi Watanabe (lol).
Still, Naomi Watanabe’s all-out performances are truly exhilarating to watch.
Try going all in like she does and dance as boldly and flamboyantly as you can!
