I think many people get hooked on music through PVs and MVs they see in city ads or online.

These days, visuals are an essential part of music.

This time, I researched songs that feature dances reputed to be “cool!” You can see each artist’s unique performances, expressions, and group identity, and they all turn out really stylish.

We’ve carefully selected popular videos based on the opinions of general music fans.

Try finding your favorite dance performance!

Cry & FightMiura Daichi

Cry & FightMiura Daichi

Daichi Miura possesses highly precise dance skills and otherworldly vocal ability.

He describes this as the music video that focuses the most on dance, obsessively dedicated to it, and the perfectly synchronized moves with the backup dancers will give you goosebumps and make you reluctant to even blink.

It’s also a song that gained attention for its silent dance segment in concert.

He’s a performer with Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS from EXILE TRIBE, and he also works as a rapper under the name CrazyBoy.

This is ELLY’s modern hip-hop music video, with many elements clearly influenced by America.

His powerful dancing is a highlight—you can really feel his natural athleticism.

There’s something about this kind of dance that gives me a wholesome impression.

It makes me feel that Japan, with its excessive regulations and reactions toward expression, still hasn’t quite caught up with the times.

A stadium-anthem dance number seemingly conscious of the 2020 Olympics.

The members are dressed in black, stand-collared military-style uniforms as they perform the choreography.

The backup dancers are a brass marching band.

Since around 2018, I’ve often seen music videos with this kind of touch in dance music, like Justice’s “Heavy Metal” or BLACKPINK’s “Kill This Love,” popping up here and there.

LOSERYonezu Kenshi

A controversial work that set all of Japan abuzz in 2016.

Incredibly, Kenshi Yonezu—who had no prior dance experience—boldly took on dancing for the first time in a music video.

People were saying, “How do you dance for the first time and end up like this?” and “He’s too much of a genius!” The video blew up on social media and through word of mouth.

He’s truly versatile—he can sing, draw, compose…

This is what it means to have natural-born talent.

This song by King & Prince stands out with its powerful message and positive attitude.

The lyrics crafted by KREVA depict the determination to chase dreams and the bonds with friends.

Featured on the album “Made in,” released in April 2023, it has also become hugely popular on TikTok, surpassing 300 million views.

Characterized by powerful dance performances and playful elements, its music video captures that energy as well.

Choreographed by RIEHATA, the commanding performance in the MV is truly breathtaking.

Showcasing a new side of King & Prince, this work is a strong track themed around challenge and growth.

It’s a music video with a simple composition, showing only the dancers performing and the members singing among them, but precisely because of that simplicity, the power really comes through.

The PV features 150 dancers in unified all-black outfits, creating an intense, impactful piece.

At first, the sight of 150 people dressed identically standing quietly gives off a slightly eerie feeling.

However, once the song begins and they all start moving at once, it’s absolutely overwhelming.

INZMNumber_i

The lead track from Number_i’s debut album is making waves.

Centered on themes of challenge and evolution toward the future, its lyrics powerfully depict cutting ties with past indecision.

Set to a high-velocity electropop sound, the song conveys the trio’s bond and determination.

Produced by Yuta Jinguji and released in August 2024, the track’s music video was filmed overseas and is drawing attention for its visuals as well.

A tie-in with a Yves Saint Laurent fragrance campaign has also been confirmed.

The chorus choreography, which evokes lightning, is catchy yet cool, bursting with energy.

The trio’s steadfast drive to overcome adversity is sure to give you courage.
