Better than a theme park! Attractions perfect for school cultural festivals

Why not create theme-park-level fun together with your whole class? For your school festival attraction, you can actually build a full-fledged, hands-on experience right in your classroom.

From handmade whack-a-mole games and a carousel built with wood and pipes, to a VR-powered roller coaster…

You’ll feel the satisfaction of creating something with your classmates and the joy of seeing visitors’ smiles.

In this article, we’ll share everything from how to craft a Disney-like dream space to practical tips for building the attractions themselves.

Interesting Attractions (11–20)

Excavation Grand Adventure

When it comes to attractions that everyone from small children to adults can enjoy, excavation is the way to go.

Digging is fun no matter how old you are.

If you want a class activity that appeals to a wide range of people, we recommend the Great Excavation Adventure.

It’s relatively easy to set up—just bury bones in the soil.

Because it’s simple to do, it’s suitable for those who prefer a lower difficulty level.

However, excavating the entire classroom does take effort, so be sure to have everyone work together as a team.

It’s guaranteed to build class camaraderie.

An aerial stroll over the school with a drone

They say drones were so expensive when they first came out that you couldn’t even put a price on them.

Nowadays, toy drones for kids are sold for just a few thousand yen.

You see drones all the time on TV and video sites, and it makes you want to try flying one yourself at least once, doesn’t it? Since this attraction offers that kind of experience, it’s sure to draw a crowd.

You need permission from your local government office to fly a drone, so be sure to get the proper authorization.

If there’s anything you’re unsure about, talk to your teacher first.

Hero attraction

How about a classic hero attraction like the ones you see at amusement parks? You know, the so-called “sentai” shows.

You could rent famous characters or create your own.

If you make your own, designing an original school hero squad is sure to get people talking.

Participatory Attractions (1–10)

Tasting ◯◯

The limited-edition taste-test potato chips were insanely difficult!!!
Tasting ◯◯

It’s one of the segments on a popular TV show.

They choose a type of food and gather products sold by various manufacturers.

The challenger is blindfolded and tastes an item from one randomly selected manufacturer.

After the blindfold is removed, they have to find which of the lined-up products is the one they tasted.

If you serve the food in small portions, you can keep costs down, too.

Hyakunin Isshu

Hyakunin Isshu, which became a popular competitive game thanks to the smash-hit Chihayafuru film series starring Suzu Hirose! When you hear “karuta using waka poems,” you can probably picture it.

Players listen to the first half of the poem and race to grab the card with the second half written on it, but don’t worry—even if you haven’t memorized the poems, the reader will recite the entire verse.

For a school or cultural festival booth, it seems perfect to enjoy as a team competition.

It’s thrilling to watch, but actually snatching the cards is even more exciting! Give it a try!

Didn’t you do this back in elementary school? Yes, it’s that Israeli-sounding song ‘Mayim Mayim.’ It’s very simple—everyone holds hands, dances, and turns in a circle.

And best of all, if you end up next to someone you like, it’s lucky, so I especially recommend it for those in love!

Parade around the campus and recruit not only current students but all kinds of participants.

If you’re short on people, staff can join too! Ask questions about hobbies and special skills, then have everyone announce their answers at once.

Repeat a few times, and at the end, write the number of the person of the opposite sex you’re interested in on a slip of paper, submit it to the staff, and reveal the results! If a matching couple is formed, you might even exchange contact info on the spot…?
