Unusual attractions you can do in a classroom for a cultural or school festival

We want to make the most of our once-a-year school festival.

When deciding on our class attraction, the classic exhibits and presentations are great, but since it’s a day to remember, we’d love to try a slightly unusual idea that visitors won’t forget.

So here, we’ll introduce unique class-room-based attraction ideas! From handmade attractions to interactive events, we’ve gathered unusual concepts that are a bit different from other classes.

You’re sure to find the perfect idea for your class!

Classroom attractions and hands-on events (unusual exhibits for school festivals) (1–10)

crane game

Cardboard Craft: Fully Automatic UFO Catcher — Make it for 6,000 yen! How to Build It!
crane game

Crane games are a popular idea for cardboard crafts, aren’t they? But most of them are the manually operated type.

This one, however, is a fully automatic version equipped with off-the-shelf motors! Aside from the motors, it’s made from cardboard, wooden skewers, straws, and other recycled or 100-yen shop items, with material costs totaling around 6,000 yen.

Beloved by all ages, crane games are perfect attractions for school or cultural festivals! Since the crane game itself doesn’t require much budget, consider splurging on some standout prizes!

roller coaster

If you introduce an attraction into your classroom, it’ll definitely be the star of the school festival! It takes time and effort, but how about a handmade roller coaster? Above all, your visitors will get to experience surprise and joy, and by building it together with all your effort, it could become a lifelong memory! Classroom space is limited, so the roller coaster’s track might be short, but even a slight slope can create acceleration, letting you enjoy the thrill and excitement just like riding a real attraction.

merry-go-round

If you want to set up an attraction in the classroom, how about a merry-go-round? Build a frame with pipes, insert it into the base, and attach swings.

After that, all you need to do is spin it by hand! The person turning it will need a bit of stamina, and they might get dizzy if they keep doing it.

Make a few teams and take turns spinning it.

If you darken the room and add lighting and background music, it will feel even more like a real attraction!

Escape Game

We tried doing an escape game in a school classroom.
Escape Game

A game where you search for scattered clues within a confined space and use them to escape from the scene.

At a school festival, you may often be limited to using only your own classroom, so it’s important to think about how to make the most of the limited space.

It seems feasible to structure it so that you gradually solve smaller puzzles to collect keywords that lead to solving one major mystery.

The number of steps required to reach the final puzzle will likely influence the overall difficulty.

By cleverly incorporating familiar classroom items into the puzzles, you can both guide players to overlook certain answers and encourage them to think carefully, resulting in an engaging game!

Giant Game of Life

It’s a fun idea to turn the whole classroom into a Life board game.

If you add spaces themed around the school festival, like mock stalls, it’ll get even more exciting.

Including small penalty games will make it even more fun.

casino

How about decorating the classroom with a casino theme to create a space where people can enjoy various games? In a real casino, dealers need professional skills to host guests, but here we’ll prioritize atmosphere and choose games that place less burden on the dealers.

Roulette and blackjack are recommended because their rules are very simple.

Rather than focusing on the quality of the games themselves, it’s important to think about how to present the world of the casino through luxurious classroom decorations and dealer costumes.

In the end, it might be easiest to have participants collect chips and then exchange them for prizes based on the number they’ve earned.

Jungle Cruise

Jungle Cruise

An attraction that turns the classroom into a jungle—that’s Jungle Cruise.

Students take on the role of guides to lead the ride, letting visitors feel like they’re exploring a dense rainforest.

With tropical decorations all around, it looks just like a real jungle.

Placed animal models add surprise moments during the expedition.

Realistic staging and energetic navigators deliver a thrilling adventure that captivates visitors.

This plan offers an extraordinary, exciting experience right in the classroom—one that’s sure to be unforgettable.

Giant Jenga

Jenga is a game where you stack blocks and then pull them out one by one without upsetting the balance.

The thrill of wondering, “Will it fall or won’t it?” is what makes it so fun.

How about hosting a giant Jenga as a booth for your school festival? Make the blocks out of cardboard and decorate them colorfully with tape.

Then stack them up and have visitors take turns removing one block at a time to compete! If the game goes on without a winner, the Jenga tower will get tall, so be sure to have a step stool ready.

Toy Story Mania!

Let’s try recreating that attraction from the dreamland! Here’s an idea for Toy Story Mania! How about building Toy Story Mania!, an attraction in the dreamland that excites everyone from kids to adults, for your school festival? You can push a cart carrying guests along the course by hand and program the game system while using software.

Work together with your classmates to create the best memories!

Seesaw-Combining Coffee Cup

In recent years, school festivals have been drawing attention with full-scale attractions like roller coasters and spinning teacups.

Here’s a slightly unusual attraction we recommend: a flashy-looking ride that combines a seesaw with teacups.

The seesaw moves dramatically up and down, each teacup spins in place, and the entire base also rotates, making for a deluxe setup.

While safety considerations are essential, building something this elaborate on your own would likely bring a great sense of accomplishment.
