Stand Out at the School Festival! A Collection of Unusual Ideas You Can Do at School and in the Classroom
We want to make the most of our once-a-year school festival.
When deciding on our class attraction, the classic exhibits and presentations are great, but since it’s a day to remember, we’d love to try a slightly unusual idea that visitors won’t forget.
So here, we’ll introduce unique class-room-based attraction ideas! From handmade attractions to interactive events, we’ve gathered unusual concepts that are a bit different from other classes.
You’re sure to find the perfect idea for your class!

Flea market

A flea market is an event where people bring items they no longer use and sell them.
In recent years, thanks to the rise of flea market apps, they’ve become popular across generations! One of the benefits is that you can hold a flea market almost anywhere, indoors or outdoors—classrooms are perfectly fine, too.
You can bring unwanted items to sell, or, if you like crafting, you can prepare handmade pieces just for the day.
For something different, it could be fun to set up booths where people make things on the spot, like portrait sketches or custom pin badges.

A giant Jenga you can enjoy with your whole body is perfect for interactive events that everyone—from small children to adults—can join.
In the video, they stack long, narrow cardboard pieces to play the game.
However, you might not always find cardboard in just the right size.
In that case, try getting creative with the materials! Ideally, choose something that won’t hurt if it collapses and hits someone.
It could also be fun to prepare a simple penalty game for the loser to liven things up!

Purikura photo booths were a huge hit in the Heisei era, and with the current Reiwa-era Heisei revival, they might become a hot topic again.
That said, it’s hard to recreate a full purikura machine.
So why not build just the outer booth and offer a “Puri-Box” as an attraction? If you decorate the inside to look great on camera and set up lights and a camera, you can take fun, memorable photos with friends without worrying about onlookers.
For the decorations, it’d be nice to go a bit retro to evoke the Heisei vibe!
Slideshow of Mosaic ArtNEW!

Let’s look back on our memories with a video! Some students may be experiencing their last school festival.
For those students, we recommend a mosaic-art slideshow.
It could become a memorable piece that sums up the past year or your entire school life.
The video introduces how to make mosaic art.
Collecting memorable photos from classmates and compiling them into a single work might be a lot of effort, but seeing the finished piece will surely warm your heart! It would be great to set up chairs in the classroom to create an environment where visitors can focus on the slideshow.
Handmade ShopNEW!

Many of you probably enjoyed playing “store” when you were kids.
It feels great when something you made makes others happy, and it boosts your self-esteem, too.
So how about opening an original shop at your school festival to sell handmade items? You can find all kinds of materials at 100-yen shops, and simple beaded accessories that just need to be strung on nylon thread don’t take much work.
The time you spend creating while thinking about the design will surely become an irreplaceable memory.

If you’re thinking of an exhibition-style attraction, how about covering an entire wall with calligraphy pieces? Rather than the usual staples like “Hope” or “Dream,” it might be better to choose words and phrases that are currently popular among students.
Words people usually toss around jokingly, rendered earnestly in brush calligraphy… just imagining it is fun, right? Even visitors who peek in and think, “Oh, calligraphy pieces…” will likely find the works so amusing that before they know it, they’ll step into the classroom.
It could also be nice to set up a space where people can actually try calligraphy themselves!
Cosplay experience

A cosplay experience would make for a unique attraction that draws attention at the school festival.
Set up a space where classmates and visitors can transform into various characters using easily prepared costumes and accessories.
Not only will participants enjoy expressing their individuality, but hosting a photo session will also produce plenty of memorable pictures.
To stand out from other classes and energize the festival, be sure to create a cosplay experience corner.
Let’s put on an unforgettable event and make it the talk of the festival.
